In all my travels around Baja California -- 30,000 miles or so, the worst experience I've ever had came courtesy of Don Miller. A friend and I were
visiting his B&B and winery a couple of years ago when three of his dogs came charging at us in the parking lot, one of them biting my friend on the
buttocks. Instead of apologizing, Mr. Miller blamed my friend for the incident, saying that she had shown fear, which provoked the dog to bite her.
When Mr. Miller urged us to follow him inside the establishment, I said I didn't want to go inside unless the dogs were put elsewhere -- they remained
circling around us, growling and hissing, following the biting. Mr. Miller refused to do so and said we would be fine. Reluctantly -- agains my better
judgement, I should say -- I went along, even though the dogs remained at our sides, and I could feel one of them twitching its nose against my leg.
Worse yet, Mr. Miller, apparently offended by my reluctance, became exceedingly rude. He answered my questions in an abrupt, sarcastic manner and made
a point of being disrespectful to both of us.
After a few uncomfortable minutes, we excused ourselves and departed his property ... with Mr. Miller unrepentant and the dogs following us clear to
our car.
Perhaps Mr. Miller produces some quality wines and has a beautiful setting for his B&B, but under no circumstances would I recommend his establishment
to anyone under any circumstances.
