Did you remind Desert Bull that you guys may have met at Viva Baja #3?

Tell me about those new Cooper tires??? When these BFGs wear out on my new Taco, I would like to put on some good shoes, but not as pricey as All Terrain T/As. I really liked the Cooper made Futura Dakotas that I used on my last Taco.

Oh, I like your BajaTaco.com windshield ... Where can I get some made that say VivaBaja.com?

VERY nice photos and you camped on one of my favorite beaches in Bahia. When you hiked the old rail trail, did it go around - all the way to the landing on the other side? From the water I can't make out the trail when following it with my eyes.

DK, the Coopers are really great so far. I have yet to torture them with a good rock crawling session, but for an overland trip to Baja and running on the sand they were fantastic. Nice and round, no "hopping" on the pavement like my previous set of Goodyear MT/R's did. Best of all, I saved about $120 on a set of four vs. the cost of the MT/R's.

Yea, actually it is because of Viva Baja 3 that DB and I know each other since that is where I first met him in person. Thanks again to you for inviting us out there!

On the decal, a great guy named Roger makes those. You can definitely get him to make you a VivaBaja.com decal, that would be cool! Just shoot him an email. He's at devriessigns "at" gmail dot com. His ebay store is http://stores.ebay.com/DeVries-Signs

Paulina, yes, the trail skirts the side of the hill, and then drops and crosses the arroyo that ends up at the sandy beach on the south side. Pretty cool that you recognized that! I would love to see it from the water some day.

Santiago, thanks! I am using a Canon Poweshot A85 (4.0 mp) and "photchop" software for digital darkroom.

bajatoco, You do absolutely great photos and trip reports, many of those are some of my favorite spots but my pictures never turn out that good!! Waiting for your mainland trip report, I did a burro trip in to the Copper Canyon country north of Mogorito in 1995, totally amazing, I wrote a short (unpublished) story about the trip but only had a print camera and lost a couple of rolls of them in burro wrecks. I can swear to one thing! When you have lost all your gringo food and after 3 days ,black beans, tortillas and dry goat cheese is the best food on earth!

Ken, I hope that you have located the CD by now ;) Calexico has some fantastic music. Definitely see them live if you ever get the opportunity. I have been to a bazillion live shows, and they are one of the most memorable.

BAJACAT, thanks so much! That bay is just south of Volcan Prieta (south of Puertecitos).

mcgyver - your words are a real kick! " :lol: You are not the first! Some of the photos taken during the apache campaigns with general Crook back in the 1800's were lost the same exact way!

Hi Capt Mike - not sure when Sharon and I will be ready to scream our way into Baja, but you will be the first to know ;D I think Tim was just out doing what he loves, wandering through the terrain and enjoying every minute.

Nice trip report - although I'm not quite sure I'm worthy to be listed in your trip report-LOL.

I had a few days off in between the holidays - my boss said "Go to Baja and relax."

So I loaded the chase truck with cerveza, steaks, cot and sleeping bag and headed south to see my friend Mikie Baja at Campo Mosqueda for some partying. The next day I was at Pete's Camp visiting my amigos, stopped at Maria's for lunch and headed south to Al's BackStreet Bar where I met some old friends...left and made it to Baja Xplorers house at Puertocitos for a 3 hour cat nap and then pushed the Chase Truck through the dirt like I was driving a stolen Cadillac. The Fox Shox sucked up the bumps so good its truly funny!

Saw the BajaTaco Rig pulling out from the beach and stopped to say "Hey." Visited and took some shots of each others rigs and I headed south to Alphonsina's to have lunch with Antonio. We chatted about our good friend - Brandi, smiled - laughed and got stuffed on the fish tacos.

Coco is all good as I visited him for a couple hours retracing the last few years of fun and spoke with some mountain bikers riding north on the road to San Felipe....YUCK.

Headed into Calamajue Wash for the grand scenic route - shush - don't tell people how beautiful that place is...someone might build a Starbuck's near the tractor...lol

Arrived to LA Bay and found Stevo at the market with his beautiful soon to be wife (hah-I let the cat out of the bag) I had planned to fish with Stevo after he invited me down the week prior so the plan was hatched to fish for few days and solve the world's problems in the afternoons.

That night at LA Bay was well ---- too much fun!

Fished with David A & Stevo the next day at Mochas and snagged a couple yellows for din-din. But not before Bergi - Phil - Stevo - David A and the crew headed to Don Juans baby --- chocolate clams and icy cold beer. An afternoon at Don Juan bay is just what everyone needs to do on their holiday break- the sun was baking us adn the beer flowed and the practical jokes were OFF-THE-HOOK fun. Imagine a gorgeous Baja Bayrunner backing up in 4 feet of water pitching the 200 HP outboard in a pitch to throw a 30 foot wall of water on a bunch of friends wrestling in the water...

Stevo-those cigars you smoke are friggin sick! Buy some good smokes next time.

That night was the next adventure as we met "Julia" an ecological Greenpeace advocate whose first ride across the barren desert dirt roads of Baja in the dark while co-driving in the Desert Tank forever changed her mind about off road.

She was last heard saying, "Go Faster!" ROTFLMAO

Later that night was spent across the bay with Idaho Mike and Big Les...old friends who have a knack for entertaining me for days. The fire along the beach was epic and the stories were flying.

Back at Stevo's early in the morning and the hijinx immediately began. Bergiss headed off to Guerro Negro with the eco-lady who now wanted to buy a Trophy Truck and race the Baja 1000.

David A & his wife served a morning c-cktail filled with shrimp, clam, crab, and everything you'd ever want in a breakfast drink...I guess. Wow - that set the day for doing what Baja Do-Gooders do best - Nothing.

Doc was funny as ****t as always. Stevo announced he may someday marry Beth, Phil explained the facts of Morro Bay to me, David & Yvonne continue to entertain me as David repaired / performed service on his Artic Cat and Bedman - well, his new house is coming right along!

By late afternoon after talking to my boss back in So Cal - I made the decision to head north.

Fueled at the Pemex and left at 3:15 pm via Coco's, Gonzage, Puertocitos, San Felipe. At 3:30 pm I ran into Wild Bill and his convoy heading into LA Bay for the week and I didn't stop ---- we passed each other at 70mph --- cuz stopping meant we woulda been there for an hour!

I hit the dirt and mashed the skinny pedal on the Desert Tank sporting 288 thousand miles on the chase truck nowadays...arrived to downtown San Felipe at 6:11 pm for dinner at Maria's.

(PS - Ain't no Toyota gonna be able to do that - Okay well maybe Ivan's Toyota TT but you know what I mean)

Too much phun...all packed into a few days!
