Common in Baja..not so common in USA

Pompano - 1-29-2006 at 05:39 AM

Familiar? What else do we see every day that is unusual elsewhere?

turtleandtoad - 1-29-2006 at 10:48 AM

Sand screen for making concrete. Not needed in the US where you buy the sand pre-screened (unless your supplier is Midnight Beach).

...quite common at our casa. Thats the way we weed out the stones from our bulk suppy of frioles...

Packs of dogs roaming, and smiling at each other...been living in pueblo 2 years and seen one dog fight, about 10 seconds....

It's too cool....peace loving dogs even when they're loving "piece"..

<:)>>>< later

road crews

BajaDanD - 1-29-2006 at 08:54 PM

here's something you dont see in the States

Road crews actually working
Also Three guys with a rope a paint brush and a bucket of paint, painting the yellow lines down the center of the Highway, in 100+ temp in the middle of nowhere.

Al G - 1-29-2006 at 09:11 PM

Most of the town sweeping the highway in Todo Santos

Would this fit this catagory? Common to see in Baja, cows, horses, pigs all piled into the bed of a truck. This truck we came upon had one cow that had fallen down and was lying under the others. Who needs a horse trailer?

another common Baja sighting...

the 'art' of loading and balancing...a real No-No in the US, although it would make a lot of lawyers clap thier hands in glee.

Frank - 1-30-2006 at 11:22 PM

That is classic!!!!

ONLY IN BAJA

BAJACAT - 1-31-2006 at 12:13 AM

Amen Bajacat.... road trip to get a frosty freeze with 5 of your best friends...

Thinking of an idea and then just building it....

Pompano - 2-3-2006 at 07:03 AM

No need for a civil engineer, plans, or blueprints. Go find yourself a bruja....witch around a little...then just a fun time doing the impossible.

(Like this well, pump, and tower......where there not supposed to be water.)

The dark clothed ghosts using the hiway as a pedestrian walkway

Gypsy Jan - 2-5-2006 at 06:25 PM

On the toll road after dark, I always (barely) see locals in dark clothing on the verge or walking along the divider or even worse, crossing right in front of me, often with children in similarly dim attire.

I worry all the time that a dirty windshield will cause a tragedy.

Not to worry...

The CalTrans emp. asso. will never let the state use any! <g>

first time the wife and I drove to Loreto we tried to count all the dead dogs and cows and other animals, Oh!! and cars that were along the road. We started calling dogs that were either crossing the road or just on the edge "Suicide Dogs". We later gave that name to all animals next to the road. Sort of like a jumper on a ledge of a tall building or bridge. We dont count them any more there are just too many.
