Pacific Side Alfonsina's??

White Angel - 2-13-2006 at 02:32 PM

Does anyone know of a beachfront hideaway south of Ensenada maybe as far down as Colonet? In the past 15 yrs, Alfonsina's has become a little too "touristy". We'll be making a swing thru the North and likely will hit Meling's but are looking for a nice spot with a half decent bed on the Pacific side. Any ideas? Thanks.

Baja Malibu Sur RV Park, a few miles south of Ejido Erendira, or Coyote Cal's Hostel, north of Erendira (past Castro's Camp & Motel)... for starters...

Thanks David! I've heard of Coyote Cal's. Is there food avai;ible out there? Any way to make contact beforehand, or just show up? I haven't been back to Baja in about a year. Have the roadblocks increased in number or remained about the same. They didn't seem to be an issue last time out; maybe I'm just getting used to them or maybe we've been far enough off the beaten track that they don't bother.

Try this:

Hey 'neilm'-I found that site on 'google' and it scares me. 'Way too touchy feely/touristy for these old dogs. The penthouse looks nice enough; but if it's full of college kids singing around the campfire and blasting the 'booming' sound system.......Old ex-pats and drunken fishermen are more our style. Thanks for the tip though. There must be some more 'traditional' digs on that side?

You might try Castro's camp; just prior to Cal's.

Yes, it is a hostel used by those Europeans (and others) on a budget... Free beans and pancakes, I believe!

The RV Park south of Erendira is a small place, but no rooms when I was there a few years ago... Try BajaCat's suggestion or go to Camalu... a new motel on the coast in that area I have seen the signs... Then our old favorite of Cielito Lindo at Km. 11 south of San Quintin... Rooms, bar, restautant...

How's about out at Quatro's Casa's?? Isn't there a little place out there??

MexicoTed - 2-15-2006 at 02:32 PM

What about La Cueva del Pirata Hotel in Camalu. It's on the coast and has a restaurant.
Ted

That's the one I was thinking of Ted... Thanks!

Thanks for the feedback guys! I'll try to check out Camalu for something new. We may well just press on to San Quintin; but thought I'd scout out some options. More suggestions are welcomed.
