Never had a pastrami sandwich...

Are they really that good? There is a hot-dog place in San Diego called "Woodies" in Clairemont that claims to have the best pastrami sandwich in all of San Diego. Maybe I should try one, then join David K and Ski Baja (JR) some day for one at Daves. :?:

I'm not familiar with Woodies but I hear they have a great chilidog.

My recommendation for deli in San Diego would either be Miltons or DZ Akins. They serve the same brand of pastrami (Vienna) as I do. Pastrami is peppered corned beef with more fat content.

zippers on the corridor in SJD makes a good one also.

pastrami San Diego = DZ Akins

No such thing as a Pastrami sandwich in California!

Seriously, Californians have no clue how to do the following:

Make Pizza
Make Bagels
Make Pastrami Sandwiches

and the don't know what a real deli is either

This is an observation made by many an east coaster. I'm from CT. which is very close to NY and I miss the heck out of that stuff.

But on the other hand, those from the East Coast can't make a good sourdough bread or wine!

:yes::yes:

I forgot to answer that question of yours...

Yes a real Pastrami sandwich IS that good. Pastrami sandwiches are made with Jewish Rye bread which is another thing that Californians have missed the concept on. They actually call Pumpernickel bread "dark rye"! Yikes!

When in the big apple, please have a real Pastrami sandwich and have a Sabret (real hot dog with saurkraut and brown mustard) wow, can u tell tengo hambre?

NONSENSE!

There are several great delis in the LA area. Brent's in Northridge is world class.

For your information Jewish rye is sourdough based and Pumpernickel IS rye bread. Malt and sometimes cocoa powder is added for flavor and color.

So, deli maven, what is your favorite NYC deli?

P.S. you're right about the pizza.

I agree with family guy 1000 percent. Arties on broadway or Katzes.

I am sorry but there is no pizza outside of NY worthy of the name with the exception of maybe italy.

Arties will deliver anywhere in the world so you can try it and see.

Pam, you can now buy the Sabret hot dogs here in San Diego - from street vendors. And, they are fantastic!!
