Baja 1000 course

We pre-ran the sections from Santo Domingo to San Felipe. From RM205 to hwy1 RM305, the first half was new. Mostly single line hills etc. We didn't spend much time with GPS readings so there were several roads from the right side, maybe from the west that could be access roads but??? It got dark on us sooner than expected and I could not be sure where this course met up with the older 1000 race course from Santa maria.
The course from hwy 1 at KM127 was interesting and mostly fast. The turn inland at RM408 is also fast but several miles of silt beds that will be a real problem on race day. It is way smoother than the road further south thru San Antonio. I don't know if this new section will be an open road to everyone after the race but if you want a quicker way to Punta Blanca this is it. It comes out on hwy 1 at KM233 just south of the rancho and buildings.

We'll be in the vicinity of Punta Bufeo, but I imagine except for a few of the pro-moto guys it will be getting dark when most of the others come by. Is that your take on it?

Jim, I think your right. I think the fast bikes will average close to 55, give or take and the fast cars a little slower 50-52. The first 250 miles is not fast-fast and alot of it is hard to pass on for the cars. After that it is fast and the pace will pick up a lot. I'll be at the hwy crossing at Chapala and we expect the first bike in about 9 hours or around 3 pm. The first car 6-6:30pm. There are some really good bike riders in class 30 and 40.
