It doesn't say... But the current issue was published in early 2003.
The map datum is NAD27 Mexico... same as the Mexican topos which are the source for the Almanac's maps.
Dates

Amazon tells that the newest Almanac was April 2003 and the map often sold with it is dated June 2003.
A book search for older two book set indicates June 30, 1997 as publication date.
Sounds right to me.

We have been told that there will not be anymore Almanacs until June of this year. We are OUT here in Baja; so is Sunbelt. We do have a few at our
shipping center in Colorado which are available from our web site.
Can we hope that a new version will be ready in June? Who knows. All I know is this is the busiest time of the year for sales of the Almanac and
there are none. Poor planning, I would say.

i see that the AAA map isn't as detailed (missing roads) but more importantly (to me) is the fact that the designation (quality) of the same roads
varies greatly. i suppose the almanac is more precise because they actually get out there?

There are errors on roads in the BA, but it's the best we have today.

The Almanac has milages on the major roads, so I would guess Landon has been on them (although the milage south of Bahia San Rafael is off by 2.0 to
the junction of the old road)... Otherwise the AAA map roads have all been traveled by the cartographers, because they all have milages. They are
using GPS mapping at AAA now and you will see some of the road location errors of the past corrected in the latest editions.
Because of legal concerns, they are not showing many of the poor quality roads that they had years ago.. too bad!
They have the Almanac and folding maps at Off Road Warehouse (Escondido)... I saw the other day.
