We were thinking about stopping there one our way back from whaling at San Ignacio.
Anywhere to tent camp and get a meal?
And how is the road?

You can tent camp on the beach and there are many taco stands in town. There are even some rooms available if the weather doesnt cooperate.

pretty sure the road is paved now..93 k's to get down there, used to be long on the wash board, but now it must be fast.
not sure if the road is paved all the way or not, i wish i did ;(.......

Whistler, Capt. George, Fishin' Rich are just some Nomads who have the latest scoop on Abreojos...
Of interest, I have been contacted by someone in Asuncion (between Abreojos and Tortugas) who has nice photos and details that will be shared here...

Road paved an additional 3 k's still 15 miles washboard..can be good or bad depends on when it was last graded..
lots of places to camp...please respect private homes....dig a hole for your sanitary waste. Better yet, a porta pottie...
Nice town, great people....no Pemex, bank or "malls"...necessities all easily gotten..
Buenos Suertes Capt. G

Just got back. As George said... camping on the beach. couple of rooms in town.. or cabins out at Campo Rene (the estero).
Road was bad for the 16 miles of unpaved area but was graded again on Friday (which means it will be good for about a week).
3-4 places to eat.

Glad you're made your way home safe.
We're leaving on Wednesday, got tied up. Barrett from Loreto coming tomorrow to look into putting up house/garage behind us, in town.
Fiesta ended at 3 AM, lots of musica, guitar came out and that was it.
See you in July! Capt G
thanks for the info, what about fishing?
BajaVida - 3-26-2006 at 09:06 PM
I heard that there is some amazing fishing out that way. Can one go out in a panga?
Capt. George - 3-27-2006 at 07:07 AM
Still good, but another "Used To Be"..........
nets, traps and all the usual decimation of fish stock....a way of life.
Estero Coyote becoming depleted....Nothing is what it was.....I hear all the stories of years past....Still a beautiful, peaceful place...
Capt. George
If only I had GK's knowledge, I could catch almost as much as Whistler!
