Greeting all, New to the site and I'm planning a trip to Baja next week. I'm a first timer. Anybody tell me about the road to San Felipe and onward
to Puretocietos? Sorry about the spelling. What about camping in these areas? Remote camoing safe? Need some advice on this. I will be with a
buddy and between he and I we have a command of spanish consisting of maybe 6 words. All advice is welcome.

Looks like your question has been moved for you...
To San Felipe is good highway from Mexicali (Mex. #5) or Ensenada (Mex. #3 which intersect the Mexicali highway 31 miles north of San Felipe).
Going south from San Felipe the pavement is good for about 40 miles or so (they are working on it)... The remaining distance to Puertecitos (55 mi.
from SF) is pot holes to missing pavement (was paved once, but too thin to last).
Puertecitos to Gonzaga Bay is 50 miles and is a graded dirt road, passable in 2WD, but not recommended for motorhomes or low cars.
Gonzaga Bay to Hwy. 1 at Laguna Chapala is 36 miles of better graded road, and small motorhomes have crossed on it (see Bedman's photos at http://vivabaja.com/bedman ).
Camping is good in many areas... with 4WD and lowering your tire's pressure, you can get to some remote beach spots. A nice campground is Nuevo
Mazatlan at Km. 32 between San Felipe and Puertecitos.... has unique forest of shade trees to camp under and a nice beach... see http://vivabaja.com/nm Most of the other signed campos on this coast are actually developed for private vacation homes which now line this once
barren coast*

BV is sounding a bit peckish this morning.
Rumour has it that most of his "Baja Boyz" departed for San Ignacio this morning without him.
Further rumour has it that he did not finish his chores at work, and thus, his boss told him to stay and get finished.
Soooooo, if he ever gets caught up, he and I may be on that very road, per above, hopefully by the weekend, and we can file a report when we return.
Then again, he may continue his slothful work habits and we may remain in rainy Central California.
(and, by the by, the reason for my post was that our Newbie put this query in the midst of a news article post on Pemex)
