Lovely Bahia Asuncion is becoming nicer all the time. the main street has been paved, a sewer pipe installed and plants and trees planted in the
middle. Word on the street(er.. dirt road) is that paving will continue out to the junction to Tortugas which would be a huge relief for residents.
Also everyone in town is excited about a huge electric project slated to be finished in June, bringing reliable and cheaper electricity to the
villages along this part of the coast from Vizcaino... including 220 volts!! The village has stepped up trash removal and installed lots of new
garbage cans as well so things are looking cleaner in hopes of attracting tourists to the area now that the road has improved. Local businesses are
also expanding to accomodate the anticipated increase of visitors. The local hotel has added more rooms, there is a new B&B, a beach guest house,
sport fishing panga rental and a new nice little palapa restaurant on the beach.

great news, that place is a sleeper. with a good airstrip in place which it has.............should see a lot of interest. Hey Vicente M. - when is
your next trip there? do you have any lots sales info via your relatives?

Sharks, "progress happens"...
I hate pavement myself, as it ends isolation and opens up an area to everyone. I hope Gonzaga Bay never sees pavement, for example. That is being
selfish, of course.
The fact is people want better, and pavement brings prosperity... also quicker access to hospitals, etc.
The thing to do is help the local people already there to handle the new visitors. Otherwise, outsiders will fill that void... Shari hopes to inspire
new visitors to Asuncion and help the people there by publicizing the services they offer travelers.

The whole area from Abreojos to Tortugas is going through the same set of improvements... and growth. Lets hope that the locals can retain control.

David, you have told me that many times. It just seems to me that the improvements are coinciding with the Gringo coastal invasion. If the poor
villages can benefit from this and afford it then by all means HOORAY. But the infrasture upgrades are most likely to feed the "new" communities along
the corridor. To me it just means more peolple at Mallarrimo and skyrocketing consumer prices. Not to mention distruction of more prisitine
coastlines. Selfish? Call it that but I've never been there.:lol
I hope the locals are getting muucho denero and not the American realtors!
Progress, Smogress!! Hmmmmmph! Who needs it. Oh yeah, the poor villages.
Just more of the same.......

You and I can only guess or post our personal opinions on development/ progress.

Just a note to sharksbaja...there are NO gringo real estate types here yet , no new communities either, nor gringo coastal invasion thank
goodness...we poor coastal villages have been lobbying the government for years to spend some cash on this area which badly needs it...these fishing
villages are forgotton and hugely underfunded...so rest assured that each and every citizen here is VERY pleased about the paving as we cannot afford
all the car and tire repairs that are caused by the road when we have to go out to do some business, get a car part or doctor's apointments or visit
family in other villages. We certainly don't want to see our lovely area trashed by tourism as many others have been but at the same time we would
love to be able to travel comfortably, have reliable power and have our visitors enjoy their trip in without breaking down!
