Just got back from a trip to LB for the Assn of Arts festival at Rancho Buena Vista. Palo verde is in full bloom so I sneezed up there and back but the bright yellow blossoms sure are pretty.
The festival was wonderful. Over 100 venders selling just about anything you can imagine. Music all day long. Great burgers and dogs. Killer ice cream. All nestled under the palm trees on the grass lawns.
Last night as we sat on the porch of our room having a much deserved cold one, we both agreed that this was one of the nicest events we had ever attended.
The next one will be Dec 3, so mark your calendars

Eli was there and she said that she felt Jimmy's spirit all around her because this was one of his favorite places.

Osprey stopped by our booth although I was out wandering and didnt get to meet him:(

If you ever get a chance to hear the Skeleton Key band, do so. They are fabulous.

Bloomin' Palo Verde

I was out at the front gate of my newly purchased land at El Chorro (I'm so excited about it) near Agua Caliente Hot Springs a couple of weeks ago, and it was, as usual, a very peaceful and tranquil morning, when I noticed a strange vibration in the air all around me. Now, I am not usually given to becoming nervous or jumpy over, well, shall we say, Oooga Boogas. But this was one of the wierdest feeling/noises that I had heard in a long while. Was it spirits that were not at rest? Restless to move onto another plane perhaps? Whatever it was, it was certainly making me take notice. It was as if I could feel it through the pores of my skin as well as hear it.
Then I realized that it was a humungous swarm of honey bees in the palo verde tree that was in full bloom over my head. Amazing!! I had never seen or heard so many bees in one place at once. Their industrious song reverberated through my body in somewhat the same way a car stereo's heavy bass will do when the volume is turned way up there. Only a much more pleasant vibration. No wonder the honey bees in El Chorro make such delicious honey.
