mexicali,san felipe or anywhere in between where you can get a deal on booze,so far all i've seen is that prices are about the same as in the states???

We always stop at the "Duty Free" shops. Usually way less than in Mx

Didn't someone on this site report that the tequila in baja and Mexico was weaker (lower proof), that in the states? I could not find a proof rating on my last bottle of Hornitos in baja.

Read the small print. It goes by alcohol content which is double of proof.:biggrin::biggrin::biggrin::biggrin::biggrin::biggrin::spingrin:

Today at Rite Aid, in Blythe, the $9.99 bottle of Black Velvet was $5.99, Sky $19.99 was $12.99, Vella box wine normally $9.99 was $5.99, similiar discounts on other categories. I just went in to get some pig's ears for Duke and wound up with a full basket for the cabinet... We try to get the tequila and Kalua down there, but usually pack a jug of other down with us...

The Baja duty free shops are pretty cheap. When in the U.S. stock up at Beverages and More (Bev-Mo)

Alcohol content (%) is HALF of proof, not double.... i.e., 100% would equal 200 proof.

Bacardi 151 is about 75% (or 'was'; I'm told it's not 151 proof anymore)

I find that the prices for our favorite adult beverages are the lowest at Algodones, which is just outside of Yuma. The liquor mart which is on your left as you enter from the US, sits right across from the immigration office.:spingrin:

Definitely true. But here in Loreto they have a tendency to run out for long periods of time.
