The last time I posted this photo, I made a new friend.

This is the old La Paz road out of downtown San Jose. Just went to a party in the huerta and the road still looks the same. Spectacular!:wow:

Hey Judy! Nice to be your friend... and I still love that photo!

Judy,

Almost looks like the old road through the estuary to Las Playitas...I would bet it doesn't look like that now..

Woody, PULL IN!!

A soft and gentle arch, Judy... it is a beautiful picture!

Tomas
I wouldnt know how it looks. They dont let anything but dump trucks moving rocks down that road. Now ALL the traffic goes in front of my house which is on the old long road to La Playita.
I have seen a lot of activity in the arroyo. Looks like they are doing some research into how to build the bridge. That will be a welcomed relief when finished....yea in the year 2026.
Some of the old banyans are still there, although many of the ones right on the old road got washed away during Marty. Hello! 100 years old banyans get washed away in a hurricane....a bridge that will last through the strong currents that roar down the San Jose river during a hurricane, quien sabe? I will never forget right after the hurricane talking with some of my neighbors, who had tears in their eyes when they talked about those trees being gone. Grown men with tears in their eyes over trees. Now I am crying...

That road through the estuary was my favorite road in the Los Cabos area, because it was the road out! I can't imagine the changes in your life because of all that new marina crap..

Not that I wish for it, but...one big storm will be the test.

How about the BIG mango trees on the San Jose side of the estuary....Still there??

Anybody recognize this beautiful arch?

Mike Supino - 4-14-2006 at 03:57 PM

Is that the arch off of Bahia de Los Angeles?

bajajudy - 4-14-2006 at 04:00 PM

Tomas
They are still there, well most of them. There is a new plan to make a road behind town that will require that all of those mangos be cut down. This will be the road that hooks up with the bridge and then skirts San Jose and goes down the road above which, of course, will wipe out what you see in that picture and then goes to the airport.
And yes I sure wish I had had a crystal ball. Who would have ever guessed that I would wind up in a world class marina? Who would have wanted to....not me!
I still love it here. It is just different from what I imagined. And as with everything, it is what you make of it. I guess particularly if you cant change it.
Cheers

Ken. Is that a trick?

Ken Bondy - 4-14-2006 at 04:07 PM

Mike, judy

No trick judy, that's at one of the islands in Bahia de Los Angeles. Mike got it right.

Nice!

Hey Joe, that looks like pretty light tackle for whatever is on the end of the pole!!What was it????:?:

Hi Sally

Skipjack Joe - 5-10-2006 at 10:03 AM

That's a dorado on a 10 wt Redington fly rod off Las Arenas.

Yeah, that's about as much bend as that graphite rod will handle before it explodes. You never want to bring a flyrod up beyond the horizontal position when fighting a fish. More rods are broken due to 'high stickin' in baja than anything else. Ceiling fans are another menace :lol:, but that's another story.

It only takes once to learn, though. I blew out an 11wt rod on my first trip to Loreto with a flyrod and it never happened again.
