tuna tubes

I must know what these are but for the life of me I can't seem to put them with the countless boats I've fished from- mostly Solmar-- so educate me-- what's a tuna tube?

Tuna Tubes are short lengths of large guage PVC pipes mounted around the stern of the boat as bait tanks. Water is circulated thru the tubes to keep bait fish (used mostly for billfish) like small tuna, macerela, cabalito, etc. alive for trolling or dropping. Many companies make em but a lot of boat owners make their own since they are simple to construct, easy to maintain and keep the bait alive for hours.

Here's a site with photos that should remind you of what they look like.

A buddy of mine made a couple of tuna tubes from traffic cones (the large and very ornge type). They were plumbed from the peak of the cone and hooked up to the washdown pump. two yellowfin lasted three days untill the pump gave up the gohst!
