Baja Wireless - Ensenada

bajabound2005 - 4-18-2006 at 09:15 PM

Anyone using Baja Wireless...not using for whatever reason? How is it working for you? Value to benefit? We were able to use it last fall (off of someone else's wireless network so we didn't even have to pay for it) but are now thinking of having it installed for our own use. Would love your ideas, commentary, etc., for your experience with them.

Enlighten me. What is Baja Wireless?

Baja Wireless is an internet service provider - all wireless. You put an antenna on your house that has a line of sight to their hmm...I'm not sure what - antenna? transmitter?...and you have internet service. Their website sucks, but here it is: www.bajawireless.com . They are located in the Hotel VillaMarina in Ensenada and provide service in Ensenada and Rosarito. They don't answer any emails sent to the "contact us" section on their website and the ocassionally answer the phone. That's why we're wondering if anyone has personal experience with them. We've used the service through someone else's hookup and it's pretty good.

but not Bajawireless. It's wlcom.com. Their service has been great. I don't think he is in Ensenada yet. They are out of TJ.k:yes:

Hey, Kari -thanks for the info. Could you check that website though - it seems "incomplete". The site comes up but there is nothing there?

I did not know what it was either... figured some kind of communication, but your quest for info lacked some key details and that just might be why you didn't get much responce....

Kind of iteresting. The cost in Ensenada is about the same as my Telnor phone and DSL in San Felipe. In Rosarito it's $10 more a month?

The speed demo looked like about the speed I have with the Telnor DSL

This is a community, not an information service.

I think we can do both:yes:

I asked my "Enlighten me" question because I also was looking for information. As a retired electrical/electronics systems designer that has designed and set up many WiFi systems, I was curious about what sounded like a city-wide WiFi system. Although I'm aware (and was involved in) a couple of such systems in the US, this was the first I'd heard of in Mexico. Hence my question.

What I got was a "Duh" and a shout! I don't think I was highjacking his thread because I stayed on topic, I just expanded it a little for others that might also be interested in this service.

But on the bright side he did supply a little info with the "Duh". So I got what I wanted, but I'll not be responding to any future requests for info from BajaBound.

Telephone for wlcom.com.mx
