What is everyone using to seal the walls of their block/cement pilas? I've been told about a two part epoxy, but would like to hear more input. This
is for a potable system. Thanks.

We're using a product called Crystal Lok on a below-ground concrete cisterna:

Can you buy that stuff in Mexica?

Bajajudy-
They list a distributor in Ensenada, but the company makes other "Marine coatings" so I don't know if they carry this product specifically.

Looks like they have more distributors now than when I bought the stuff last year. At that time we called San Diego Marine Hardware and they had a 5
gal cubeta shipped to our door (from Wash.).
Our tank is 4 ft deep, 30 ft long, and 8 ft wide and the top forms the sidewalk around the garage(couldn't go deeper due to lava rock below). The
access hatch is a 2x2 ft opening we located inside the utility room in an attempt to keep the dirt to a minimum. I'm the smaller of the 2 of us and,
unless I'm more claustrophobic than I realize, I'll be applying the Crystal Lok to the inside tank walls in 2 weeks and will let ya'll know how it
goes.

better vent the stuff or....you'll die
Or borrow a diver's 'Hooka'...
Mexray - 4-26-2006 at 10:32 AM
...and use it to breath while you're in the 'pit'...with only one opening, it will be hard to vent properly...caution here!

Hmmmm.
I was being A.R. that the sealer was applied properly and had only considered the confined space scenario and not the asphyxiation. I may reconsider
and pay the boys to do it. Tell Susan she can relax Bob.

The stuff was easy to apply, is non-toxic so no confined-space asphyxiation, and there's a sheen on the surfaces of the concrete tank when it's
exposed to water which must be the "barrier".
One 5 gallon bucket easily covered our below ground cisterna with a lot left over so we applied it to the inside walls of a large 4-chamber concrete
septic "thing" (I don't know the correct term for that 10 foot deep, cavernous monster- "Underground Apartments dwellings" maybe !)
Seems like good stuff.
