'The Forgotten Peninsula' by Joseph Wood Krutch...this is a great read for anyone interested in getting a good perspective of Baja before the paved road and before there was any major tourism...he also goes into depth about some of the rare plants and trees found in Baja as well as some places that are well off the beaten path...probably one of the most interesting baja books i've read to date

Dirt, that is a very good book. Should be required reading.
So many Baja books, so little time. I am lucky to be surrounded by them:P

Saints and Demons in a desert wilderness

Another great before-the-road book is "Almost an Island" by Bruce Berger. The chapter on San Ignacio made me wish for a time machine!

I was selling these at the book signing in '05 as Dave was unable to attend

ISBN (hardback) 1-4134-0322-0

(softback) 1-4134-0321-2

The ordering details are in my Baja Notebook along with the other new Baja books listed there...

Dave Werschkul's new Baja mission book is hot!: 'Saints and Demons in a Desert Wilderness'. This is a handy traveler's guidebook to the missions and visitas in Baja with history and location details that include GPS directions. A folding index map comes with each book. I found new information that added to my knowledge in Dave's book! http://www.bajamission.com
