Of course back then there was no town of San Quintin or Lazaro Card##as along 'Hwy. 1' (the main Baja road) nor a Catavi?a other than an abandoned
rancho near San Luis and Santa Ines.
Pavement ended way north of San Quintin back then, near Colonet...
Pavement arrived in 1973!

In July, 1973 pavement ended near El Progreso but just 5 months later it had extended south to meet the advancing pavement coming north from Santa
Roasalia that year. Construction crews met at San Ignacito (near Catavi?a) where a monument marks the occaision.
