Buddy boat for SoC Adventure out of BOLA?

Hook - 5-19-2006 at 11:39 PM

I am planning on departing either the evening of June 8th or early on June 9th. Either way, arriving at BOLA on the 9th.

Will be on the water thru the following Saturday (June 17th). Plan on overnighting it at San Francisquito, Isla Salsipuedes, I. Partida and probably the Big Island. Offshore plans would include a run at Isla San Pedro Martir, San Esteban, and maybe Turners. Water conditions and fish will dictate, as well as weather. I have done all this except SPM and Turners and know where to anchor for the night.

Anyone interested? Mostly hopeful of a buddy boat out to San Pedro Martir as that is about as remote as it gets in the SoC. Could be a little flexible on destinations within that week.

This trip calls for total self-sufficiency and a range of at least 200-250 miles, including a safety factor. Gas and diesel are now available at BOLA but no fuel dock. Gasoline MAY be available at San Francisquito (jerry cans) but ice is unlikely and diesel certainly isn't unless you can work something out with the small garrison in the cove. Trip COULD be split into two halves (southern Midriff and then La Guardia and up) with a refueling in the middle but the same range requirement would still apply.

U2U me, if interested. All permits and fees are the responsibility of the individuals involved. If you have trailer work to do, get on it now. I've seen trailers end more Baja trips than boat problems.

Dorado and billfish are now being caught north of Mulege and there is every reason to expect that they will have already arrived in the next week or so. Personally, I think they're already off SPM.
