Hola Nomads,
just got back from a great trip to Loreto. This was mostly a dive trip where we dove with the big Humboldt Squid in the area. There is some great
pics on this link!!
The view from the road from Santa Rosalia to Loreto is AMAZING!! the water is so beautifull that its almost hard to watch the road. The danger is
the narrow road that drops off on each side. We hit a cow in some tight turns at night. The cow was alright but the front of my truck is now baja
modified.
Our customer, a man named Ivo was from Austria. He is a photographer for MARE magazine in Germany. He went back on the plane.
Mike, now I know why you fly down......

GTB...just checked out the pics...those are some awesome shots...i'm just wondering if the people you take down on those dives are certified for
scuba...those depths seem kinda scary to a guy like me whose only done a little bit of skin diving and probably only been down at abot a 10 ft. depth
at the most...I sure would like to see some of those squid in action someday...what a rush that must be

P.S. Even with the dangers, I always love the drive down there, then again, I only fly when I absolutely need to do so---white knuckles.

We saw some a few days ago, feeding on the surface by Coronado...you could see jets of water shoot into the air. We got a few to chase a jig up to the
top. One's in my freezer now. I've also see them near the surface when fishing from my kayak in that area.
No way would I get in te water with them!

Yea, all of our customers have to be open water SCUBA certified. We also are now requiring a minimum of 50 dives. To be honest, with all of the
armor and saftey cables we use, even dive cages, its pretty safe.
Its just that your self preservation voice keeps telling you.....
"What the F@#k are you doing.....get your a$$ in the boat!"
Once your over that, well....its still scary.

Excellent pixs, an exciting trip for sure.
eetdrt88 in 1984 my son and I decided to get certified and took a Padi course in San Diego. Our open water dives were at Santa Catalina Island.
On my first dive we teamed up went down. We landed on the bottom in about 50 feet of water. Visability was very good. We gave each other the thumbs up
and started off, only something pulled me back. I tried a couple of times but was pulled back. I was hung up on the kelp. My son was gone and no where
in sight. I finally removed my tank and turned around and got free. I put my tank back on and about then my son returned and off we went. It didn't
bother me to remove my tank because we did it in practice in a swimming pool. I do remember looking up and thinking the surface was a long way away.
Later I did give some thought to the kelp.
