Significant Others are welcome, of course, along with kids of any age and either language--my grand-daughter is 9 and bilingual. There's a pool that's can't handle laps, but is safe for kids and good for cooling off.

Weird Nomads, Braulio? Surely you jest.

[Edited on 5-27-2006 by bajalera]

Skeet/Loreto - 5-27-2006 at 06:18 PM

Braulio:
If the ferry comes in on the 15th, I will meet you with Bells on my fingers and Rings in my Nose!

Skeet

Braulio, a question . . .

bajalera - 5-28-2006 at 07:09 PM

for you: Did you ask if kids will be there because you have some? Of because you're allergic to them?

Skeet/Loreto - 5-29-2006 at 02:35 PM

Hey Lera: I am well and Happy!!!
My beautifull young wife of 19 years returned from her 10 day trip to Washington, New York{Saw Beauty and the Beast} last Night.

The Oysters she Bought me o n my 75th Worked!!

I Have the BBQ going, the Wine cooling for a good Memorial Day at Home, remembering my Fallen comrades of "The Forgotten War".- that is the Korean Conflict to the Youngsters who have not been taught that we lost 58,000 in that conflict!

God Bless them All!

Lera with a lot of rest this next week , i am confidant I will arrive at the Party with Bells.

You will never know what you and the Nomads have done to my Heart!

Skeet/Loreto

bajalera - 5-30-2006 at 08:57 AM

Hope you can make it, Braulio. I've been brewing up a whole new bunch of trouble especially for you.

bajalera - 5-31-2006 at 11:46 AM

Skeet has asked me if Politics, Religion and Sex can be discussed at the party, and I've assured him that in a liberal household there are no taboo subjects, although in expressing disagreement we generally try to avoid resorting to personal insults or fisticuffs [whatever those are].

This does not mean we are devoid of Family Values, however. Nomads who intend to ride nekkid on their motorsickles will be restricted to the back patio.

Sharksbaja - 5-31-2006 at 11:57 AM

:lol::lol::lol:

Skeet/Loreto - 6-9-2006 at 03:49 AM

Lera: Get Ready!! This is you last chance to get ready for the "Ole Man".
Leaving on the 4;25pm out of Amarillo. Should I bring a New York times?
Skeet

Bruce R Leech - 6-9-2006 at 06:06 AM

Eli - 6-9-2006 at 01:49 PM

'Dykes on Bikes' wins trademark
Agency had denied application

SAN FRANCISCO (AP)

"A San Francisco lesbian motorcycle group has successfully trademarked the name "Dykes on Bikes" after proving the gay community does not find it derogatory.

The U.S. Patent and Trademark office had denied the San Francisco group's applications for a federal trademark.

But the office reversed itself after being convinced the once-offensive term "dyke" has now become associated with gay pride.

The motorcycle club was founded nearly 30 years ago and became famous for leading San Francisco's annual gay pride parade.

Vick Germany, president of the San Francisco Women's Motorcycle Contingent, also known as Dykes on Bikes, said the decision was a huge victory."

Grover what are you trying to tell us here:lol:

JESSE - 6-13-2006 at 09:20 PM

Can i bring some ceviche?

Eli - 6-14-2006 at 09:47 AM

Boy How Day, I sure am looking forward to meeting Y'all manana! I have been happily home-bound lost in the grandkids and my art since last Nov., man the time flies when your having fun. Finally going to La Paz for the first time in how long, can't believe it, so be it.

Lee, You are one of the principal reasons I visit this board, your words have delighted me many times. Yep, love your sence of humor and humanity. I so look forward to finally meeting you!

Skeet, My father adored you. I do truly look forward to shaking your hand.

Jesse, I for one hope you bring the ceviche.

Comtin, are you this calm in real life? We shall soon see.

Grover, I am sure your good spirit will be warmly welcomed, at least by me.

Hasta entonces, Sara

comitan - 6-14-2006 at 10:37 AM

Eli

My wife says: :O:O:O

Bruce R Leech - 6-14-2006 at 10:41 AM

you Nomads all have a good time and say hi to everyone for me. I sure hate to miss this one but maybe next year.

bajalera - 6-14-2006 at 03:28 PM

Ceviche? Great!

Thanks for the kind words, Sara. I chatted with your dad several times at Leree's in San Ignacio in the good-old-bad-road days, and look forward to meeting his daughter. Besides that, I intend to nag you into at least considering wthe possibility of writing and illustrating a book--if your art is as interesting as your prose, that would be worth doing.

Time? Wish you hadn't asked that, Wiley. I was thinking around four or five but it's still pretty warm then, so maybe a little later would be better? On the other hand, we'll have cool stuff to drink [with booze as well as without, and that always helps alleviate the temp.

So let's say anytime after around about four or five, more or less, give or take a half hour or so?

Sharksbaja - 6-15-2006 at 01:02 AM

ohhhhh, Baja tiempo del fiesta. Shucks, sounds fun....and HOT! No talkin' behind our backs now.....hear!:P:bounce: Have a goody!

JESSE and Skeet

Bruce R Leech - 6-16-2006 at 07:48 AM

now that is a photo worth keeping.

any more party reports ? or is every one hungover?

comitan - 6-16-2006 at 09:10 AM

Sorry Bruce the only excess was the good time, good food, good company. we all agreed its amazing that so many could meet over the internet and be so compatible in real time. If you notice the stainless pan by the ice chest in the picture of Jesse & Skeet that was the cevice that Jesse brought, it was to die for, I will guarantee you that non of you have ever tasted cevice that good.

bajajudy - 6-16-2006 at 01:22 PM

Boy am I bummed.

So sorry to have missed such a good time.

Jim and I will be in La Paz next week if anyone can take another get together so close, how about a meet a La Costa for dinner.
Should be Wed or Thurs. Will know more Monday.:!:

More pix, por favor:bounce:

Eli - 6-17-2006 at 07:54 AM

It was an interesting experience to meet everyone in the flesh, putting faces to the words I have learned to identify people with, I was not disappointed; it is amazing how our writings project our persona, everyone being as I had imagined from the picture they had painted of themselves with their comments on the board.

Food and drink were abundant and delicious.

Ah, but for me the high point of the evening was meeting La Lera, herself. Wow, how can such a tiny person have such a giant presence? The respect that I had formed for her reading her thoughts and comments over the last couple of years has been doubled by the meeting of her. Yep, I have no doubt that she is a special soul, one who's quite being solicits respect without asking for it.

Her home is magical, a giant old romantic Baja courtyard in the back, with towering Mango and Almendra trees giving one the sense of times gone by. The kind of place that could inspire a life time lost in projects without even having to go out those big white steel gates. Certainly a place where you would imagine a writer such as Lera to live. Just classic, that?s all.

Sure am glad I went.

Definitely the words of a writer yourself, Eli.
I can see and feel the couryard through your words.

Skeet/Loreto - 6-18-2006 at 04:46 AM

Thanks to Lera and all the Good Nomads!!
It was a great party!!

I want to assure everyone on this board that Lera did not "Ride Nekid on her Motorcycle"!!
Everyone was a Pleasure to meet , I shall always hold in my Heart the Hospitality and Kindness extended by Lera and Steve.

May God bless each and everyone who attended.

Skeet/Texas

Don Alley - 6-18-2006 at 07:31 PM

Paula and I also thank Lera, and all who attended the party.

Hey all you Nomads, it was really a great pleasure meeting Skeet, a real gentleman. Even if sometimes we both wonder if the other hasn't been using those funny Loreto pipes.

We have always loved La Paz, now we've met people who give us reason to love it even more.

bajajudy - 6-20-2006 at 11:15 AM

I give up. My life is not my own anymore.
Who knows when we will be in La Paz. Will try to post so maybe some of you can meet for dinner or cerveza or whatever.
Cheers
