Prior to the Senate vote today on the "Kennedy Amnesty" version of the immigration bill, the TV news was reporting that only 23 GOP Senators were
willing to vote for the bill and that the White House was working the phones and twisting arms in the hopes of being able to get a majority of the GOP
to vote Yes in order to put pressure on the House Leadership. Today's vote garnered those same 23 Yes votes. Not one Senator was twisted. Hooray.
The House leadership has already said that the Senate version is DOA when it goes to committee. House members are more than happy to have NO Bill
rather than the Senate version. They have said they will happily go to the voters having fended off the "Kennedy" Bill. Even the Demo House members
spoke to expressed NO hope that they would get a vote on the Senate version.
Didn't I predict that ?
