gringorio - 5-26-2006 at 07:46 PM

Actually, these days I prefer as many comforts as I can pack in my car! But this was roughing it a bit

comfort

cpg - 5-29-2006 at 04:23 PM

I agree the XR 600 with a back pack does not hold enough any more.

fandango - 5-29-2006 at 07:06 PM

woody, gringorio,cpg:
where were you camping? you can tell me, i'm discreet.
the tent and kayak photo should be framed, it's great.

Bob H - 5-29-2006 at 07:36 PM

This is how we roughed it in Mulege little while back....

Ken Bondy - 5-29-2006 at 07:44 PM

This is as rough as it gets these days.

Bob H - 5-29-2006 at 08:06 PM

Hey Ken, each one of those red containers on top of your Hummer must be worth about $40 full/each these days, huh?
Great shot.

Camping out of a Subaru in the 80's

Punta San Francisquito (we made our own caba?a on the beach)...

Shell Island 'beach house' when we stayed about a week...

Here's mom and dad teaching me how to 'rough it' on the beach near Punta Final, Gonzaga Bay...

David K - 5-30-2006 at 06:19 AM

About 3 1/2 years ago, the kids and I camped at Los Candeleros way north of L.A. Bay... muy remote!

Last September, our simple camp on Shell island...

turtleandtoad - 5-30-2006 at 07:14 AM

At my age, sleeping on rocks is NOT an option!

eetdrt88 - 5-30-2006 at 08:44 PM

Roughing it for the '05 Baja 500

Paulina - 5-30-2006 at 08:54 PM

We roughed it last year by taking the 'hide a ton' sleeper sofa for an arm chair, front room type view of the race course.

Paulina - 5-30-2006 at 08:56 PM

Because we were at a spot where we watched the race go by in both directions, the evening atmosphere was just as important as the day time roughing it comforts.

Paulina - 5-30-2006 at 08:59 PM

We really rough it by making our own bikinis out of Tecate pennants and duct tape.

What's really rough is when....

Paulina - 5-30-2006 at 09:03 PM

the guys want to get into the bikini action too. Ok, I'm done.

Diver - 5-30-2006 at 09:37 PM

Duct tape ?? Man, that's gotta hurt coming off !!

Tomas Tierra - 5-31-2006 at 10:53 PM

John M.

--Larry

Hi Larry
It is a tent. Columbus Variant. I love it sets up fast and is very comfortable with a great view.

Thomas - vintage shot?

John M - 6-2-2006 at 02:05 PM

Thomas - 2002 I believe - we still have the Jeep though in the last two weeks have retired it from Baja trips. Had it 20 plus years and many, many Baja miles on it!

Hope the new Toyota proves as much fun! - here's one more photo. Maybe 1998 - at Coco's Corner.

Tomas Tierra - 6-2-2006 at 09:39 PM

in your first photo, the toyota and the jeep are of similar vintage..I thought it was an old shot..thats a cool place, Las Pintas..wondered if you were going out there back then...

Don't do it to much....

Tomas Tierra - 6-2-2006 at 09:44 PM

but tent camping out of the truck is roughing it..very worth it at the right spot..
