The new exit for the border road is complete. As you are crossing the border (heading south) the new exit is mid way across the bridge. No longer will
you need to loop under and to the left. Simply exit right and you will wind up on the border road heading west. The only drawback is that once you
take the exit you then need to merge FROM THE LEFT. You do have the right of way as there are yield signs for traffic in the high speed (left lane)
BUT Mexican drivers are notorious for ignoring traffic signs.
My advice is to use the old route if you are towing anything.

I wasn't aware that they were working on that until your post. I tried it and it's much simpler for those who are not familiar with it.
Over the years I can't count how many maps I have drawn of that little whoop-dee-doo for relatives wanting to visit my folks in Rosarito. One sister
from TX tries every year and has yet to negotiate it successfully. She'll be thrilled.
What cracked me up about the old exit was the overhead sign. It pointed straight down on the line and you could not tell which lane it indicated.

Isn't just as risky or more to take the new way as there is traffic coming up from the commercial area below the bridge?
Can you still take the looping way around?

There was not a lot of traffic at the time I was there. However it wasn't as bad as I had envisioned. I drive a truck w/campershell and limited
visibility to the right. As you come down the approach, you have a long visual lead-in, but as I said, there was no traffic when I was there. I
guess you can only judge for yourself after trying it at different times & traffic levels, but for someone who doesn't travel it often enough to
remember the exact lane they need to be in, it's less confusing.
Maybe someone else can tell you whether or not the old way is still there.

Still there. I would only use the new exit if I wasn't towing or in light traffic.
