CNN's spin

Cypress - 7-3-2006 at 11:39 AM

CNN is hung-up on stupid. Anti-anything positve to USA. Their agenda is put the USA down and throw up a smoke screen for all our enimies.

Stealing It in Front of Your Eyes

Bruce R Leech - 7-3-2006 at 11:44 AM

that is a amazing story:lol:

ChoicePoint is the pro-Republican private company

vgabndo - 7-3-2006 at 01:12 PM

hired by Florida Secretary of State, and GW Bush campaign manager Katherine Harris in 2000 to provide a now-discredited list of ex-felons to be removed from the voting rolls. The result was thousands of people having their right to vote taken from them illegally.

What on earth were these people doing messing with a Mexican election? Given their known partisan position, it doesn't seem likely that they were hired to make the Mexican elections more FAIR.

If this belongs in off-topic...we could pick it up there if anyone disagrees.

"Now-Discredited"????

Barry A. - 7-3-2006 at 01:39 PM

-----since when was the ChoicePoint list discredited?? Were the folks on the list Felons, or not? And if they were, they are not allowed to vote-----period.

So what is controversial about that?

bajajudy - 7-3-2006 at 01:44 PM

I believe that in some states felons can vote

Van you are right this should go off topic

[Edited on 7-3-2006 by bajajudy]

This IS about Mexico-----------

When I typed in my "pass word", 3 different times, it comes back as an invalid pass word, and will not let me in.

WHAT is going on???? anybody know???

Taco de Baja - 7-5-2006 at 07:54 AM

I wonder how soon Obrador [Goreador?....Obragore...... ;D] will pull the "Disenfranchised voters" card out like Gore and Kerry?
After all there are millions of poor Mexican Nationals living in the US who left the motherland because Mexico would not provide for them, or their families.

"Because these individuals are poor, many could not make the long, long, long, trip to the border. Also, they were very afraid of not being able to return to the USA if they did vote because they entered the USA illegally. So, they chose to sit out the election......This is UNFAIR to Millions of hard working Mexicans whose voices were silenced. The election must be occur again, but with 1,000 of polling stations set up in the USA to accommodate these poor disenfranchised individuals. Or, keep the vote in Mexico the same, and just set up the polling locations in the USA......."

I can hear it now....

I must be missing something here.

What is the link between a Los Banderas News editorial and CNN? :?::?::?:

bajalou - 7-5-2006 at 08:46 AM

Probably the CNN logo just above the editorial.

Near the top of the page there is a symbol for the "Puerto Vallarta News Network" Of which Los Banderas must be a part. It appears to use the same font and color as CNN, and even looks very similar to CNN....With a quick passing glance at it, one's mind even reads it as CNN, I wonder if CNN knows about this...???... Or maybe PVNN is part of CNN.....:?:

Uh...You probably meant Calderon. ;D

Obrador is currently 2 points ahead in the recount. I think it will hold. Lots of skeered folks down here.

You are correct about scared people. Just keep watch the Peso, the Mexican stock market, and Mexican economy crash if Obrador is "selected" as the winner. Of course, with a congress as divided as the USA's good luck to him trying to push through all the social programs he promised during the campaign.....

Bruce R Leech - 7-5-2006 at 05:35 PM

every thing changes but everything remains the same:O

Cincodemayo - 7-5-2006 at 05:37 PM

Bruce....wasn't that a Led Zeppelin song?

SiReNiTa - 7-5-2006 at 05:39 PM

right you are about the economy...and after the first elections calderon was supposed to be the winner...by i can't remember how many votes but obrador said they should have a recount..odd? i think so

Cincodemayo - 7-5-2006 at 05:40 PM

If Obrador is the winner his 2 first guests will be Castro and Chavez...
Then watch the rhetoric from the Bush gang!:barf:
Hold onto your wallets folks.

SiReNiTa - 7-5-2006 at 05:49 PM

haha...well i should hope we are holding on to our wallets..i mean he's not even president yet and the dolla already dropped can you imagine if he gets elected????????:barf::wow::fire:

Cincodemayo - 7-5-2006 at 05:57 PM

Sirinita...
It doesn't matter what is said during an election...being a politician dictates that you will be corrupt no matter what. Power does wierd things to people and paying all your political constituents back after being elected is mandatory. Electing a different party can just create a logjam so nothing gets done. The evils of government.:barf:

Cincodemayo - 7-5-2006 at 05:59 PM

Great quote by Ronald Reagan..one of our best Presidents.

"We must not look to government to solve our problems..
GOVERNMENT IS THE PROBLEM"

Serves 'em right. That's what you get when you have free elections.

Letting the poor vote... What were they thinking?

This DID happen here, its TRUE!

If you follow the Mexican media on this its was/is called the "Manos Sucios" incident and it was really did happen. How dare the US Government involve themselves in the Mexican elections! The FBI agents involved deserved to be arrested as they blatantly violated the law. IF the FBI was all that smart they should have sent dual (Mex) citizens to handle this, DUH! Your tax dollars at work. The election results are still unofficial from what I can see so far but last time I saw the TV news Obrador was ahead by only 1% !

PREP

fdt - 7-5-2006 at 07:26 PM

On Sunday they were preliminary results. Today is the official count. This is not a recount as some of you are saying.

How do you say "see-saw" in Spanish?

Conservative Leads in Mexico Vote Recount

By LISA J. ADAMS
The Associated Press
Thursday, July 6, 2006; 6:08 AM

MEXICO CITY -- The two front-runners in Mexico's closest presidential race in history watched anxiously Thursday as an overnight vote tally recount saw the conservative candidate Felipe Calderon catch up to his leftist rival and pass him by a razor-thin margin.

Article

And why is the media calling this a "recount" I thought it was still the official first count......

Al G - 7-6-2006 at 08:36 AM

Just in on Bay Area News Calderon has won!

The Betting Line

MrBillM - 7-6-2006 at 09:04 AM

Anyone who still thinks that Obrador can win this election is deluding themselves. The official count shows Calderon as the winner. The recount will show Calderon as the winner and any Supreme Court decision will be in Calderon's favor, regardless of the merits. Calderon is the Safer choice from the standpoint of the establishment. Obrador is a wildcard that could have serious consequences for the Mexican economy.

Any Obrador Bettors ??

vandenberg - 7-6-2006 at 12:47 PM

Obrador's party have large scale demonstrations planned in the Zocalo in Mexico City on Saturday. Hope this will not turn ugly, but there's a large chance that it will.

bajalou - 7-6-2006 at 12:59 PM

Don't expect to see soldiers back on the checkpoints anytime soon.
