Pre-trip Report for Bahia Tortugas/Asuncion

Bajaboy - 7-3-2006 at 05:11 PM

In anticipation of our trip starting 7/12, the wife and I decided to pick up our tourist permits today. We often leave San Diego in the middle of the night and park just across the border. But in case we decide to leave earlier this trip, it would be nice to be prepared. Thus, we drove down to the border today.

We parked the truck and walked across the border, stopped at the immigration office, paid the fee, returned to the office and were on our way. I'd say once we crossed the border to getting our permits took approximately 15 minutes. Easy...we'd done it before this way and had no problems.

Now it was time to return. We walked across the bridge and saw a huge line of pedestrians but could not see an end to the line. We waited about 1:20 in line. We made the most of the situation reminding one another that next week we'd be lounging on the Pacific somewhere between Tortugas and Asuncion.

Expect a report sometime toward the end of the July.
