Primo Tapia is correct. This is a suburb located just south of Rosarito. This lighthouse is located right next door, to the North, of the Pemex station there. It would look great renovated, but needs quite a bit of work to get it done.

Also included, if you care to visit, is the original disel generator, housed in a building near there. I don't know about the lens though.

Phil C, It looked to me that this lighthouse was being used as a body shop. But, it was closed the day I drove by there. The red brick building next to it has no roof but part of it you can't see inside - maybe that is the diesel area. It looked to me that there was no lens up there, but it's hard to tell. The lighthouse is in very bad condition. But it does look REALLY COOL on a nice clear day.

-----I still like the name "Rosarito Beach" tho, as that is what we called it when I first visited there with my Mom in the late 1940's, and thru the ' 50's. I spent many an evening in my late teens in the bar at the Rosarito Beach Hotel in the late '50's-----we used to go down there at least twice a month------------good times.

Rosarito Beach is the official name of the city, Playas de Rosarito or Rosarito Beaches. When I was a kid my dad used to take us to Tecate and would say Tecate Beach;D

The generator, housed in the palapa/pool area was never intended to power the light house. It provided power to the Cantamar complex before the electric came through.

And the light house:

It was built by Alejandro Borja because he felt like it. :lol: Never intended or used as a navigational aid.
