Impact of New President ?

Diver - 7-6-2006 at 12:16 PM

I'm curious what people think will be the impact on tourists and those gringos living in baja with either president ??

Anyone scared of a large shift in policy ?

I think both has the potential to be good and bad. None of us know for sure one way or the other. The biggest problem is MY definition of Socialism. I see it as a way to take something from someone that has earned it and give a small portion to the poor and keep the rest.

they are all pretty much pipit's. I don't think it really makes a hill of beans worth of deference. I like more what the PAN candidate stands for

The Peso is getting stronger vs the dollar - 11.029 to one a little while ago and a week ago was about 11.45 to one

Well if you thank Castro was good for Cuba and Chavez for Venezuela, then Obregon was the man for you.

PAN is closer to individual freedom instead of government power... it is good for Mexico to keep moving in the direction of freedom from government control over personal liberties. Fox could only start the change (which he did)... Now that PRI is washed up, people can identify between the two ... good vs. evil, if you will... but deciding between two is much better than between three or more.

Things have a chance of getting done if there are fewer devisions...

To really soothe matters, he should have asked that they "take it like the gringos did" in 2000, and above all, let's not bring up 1988. :D

THAT, Grover is cruel!:no: I'm waiting patiently.:rolleyes::cool:

If the PAN wins, theres a decent chance it will join forces with the PRI and pass most of the reforms needed, if it happens, expect the Mexican economy to grow at a 4 to5%+ rate a year for at least a few years and the economy to seriously improve.

With Obrador, you have NOTHING.

Cincodemayo - 7-13-2006 at 03:17 PM

Jesse....A BIG bullseye on that statement! Obrador would have been a disaster.

A "Castro/Chavez" type would not work just south of the Border...
The CIA would have had Guido take him out;D
