Dear Elizabeth,
I was shocked and saddened when I opened this post regarding the loss of your husband Roger. Although I did not know him personally, I knew of him and
his work through friends. He was an accomplished and admirable man, and I feel certain you had some wonderful years together.
I am so sorry for your loss. Know that you and yours are in my heart and in my prayers.
With sincere caring,
Nena

I have been reading this post and the other one that appeared with much less than class on the board many times over the past few days and was so
happy that Cabo Magic posted this thread so that I felt that I could respond without in any way endorsing the unnecessary and hurtful comments that
appeared elsewhere.
I feel a small bit of your sorrow but it is clouded by my happiness that you and your husband were together and that he was doing something that both
of you loved.
I have been wandering around Baja for about 50 years and have made plans for my ashes to be cast out to sea in La Salina.
I have also written several poems on Baja and most of them revolve around the fact that Baja is a Harsh and Beautiful Land. What more could the two
of you ask than to be sharing the Beautiful part of Baja in your last moments together.
I salute the two of you.

Elizabeth--
One of the slogans on the FBI building in DC states
"The acquittal of the innocent is just as important to the administration of justice as the conviction of the guilty."
I've often pondered that phrase and it's location. Without those who defend the accused- the cornerstone of American Justice- "innocent until PROVEN
guilty" is meaningless. Without those who challenge prosecutors allegatons- Prosecutors become the judge and jury of the American system and I've
known some DA's whose motivations are not to serve justice- only to be reelected.
so my hat is off to your husband and all he stood for in making the American system of Justice the model for fairness throughout the world. Without
people like him the charging document -like in a Taliban sytem is all it takes for guilt to exist. Those who are guilty deserve whatever punishment
the law provides- but all deserve a fair trial.
God bless you and your family - and know many of us respect the memory of those who defend the poor, the unlikable, and accused.
