TROPICAL STORM EMILIA turn right please we need the rain.
shari - 7-25-2006 at 08:06 PM
Emilia please don't turn right, just keep on going out to sea....these storms reak havoc in our pacific coast villages for those who don't have decent
roofing and housing. The fisherman cant work eiether. We'll hopefully get some rain anyway but believe me, nobody along the coast WANTS a tropical
storm to hit. But the surf should be rad! And we look forward to collecting the pismos that get pounded ashore here. People driving down beware of
arroyos flooding as it is raining now in La Paz.

They say it will head west and weaken, andm Bruce it extends out 140 miles from the center so you should still get rain, which is what you really
want. I'm happy I got mine all of my plants are happy.

It is still pretty dark here. The wind has died and we havent had any rain in a while.
The road to San Jose is flooded but people were using it until a colectivo went off the road and closed it for an hour or so.
The jettys are still here although Erics palapa is precariously perched over the water now. Several downed recently planted palms along the road but
not as many as I would have thought because we had some pretty strong gusts of wind...I would say around 25mph, maybe 30. All my plants are facing
northwest.
But the rain was worth it.
Adios, Emilia.
Be kind to our friends on the Pacific coast.
El Jefe - 7-26-2006 at 09:02 AM
We had three inches of rain out on the east cape road. A bit of erosion mitigation will be necessary around our house, but other than that all is
well. The plants and critters are loving the moisture. We are going to attempt a Costco run today so we hope the water level is lower on the arroyo
crossing. Whew, now if the sun would just come out for a little while to charge those batteries.....
El Jefe - 7-26-2006 at 09:04 AM
happy frogs
bajajudy - 7-26-2006 at 09:08 AM
The road is still closed, El Jefe
Those frogs mean all is right with your world(and theirs jejeje)

Judy and All who have contributed to this thread, THANK YOU!
I heard rumors on the street today here in Oaxaca and started to worry about home, I knew right where to come to find out what is really going on,
Baja Nomad, right on! I feel much better after reading this thread.
Saludos, Sara

REad this thread a time or three and came to the conclusion that if one were to pull all the threads together he/she could start a very viable
religion with folks dancing to the rain gods and praying to the clouds.
I love it!

It's 19:00 and knarly here blowing about 30 knots as Emilia approaches us. We've tied down the palapa and bracing for very strong winds later tonight
as it passes. Not much rain yet. But this sucker hasn't moved as far offshore as we'd like and we're trying to decide to board up the windows or
not....hmmmm
pacifica - 7-26-2006 at 09:15 PM
We were staying at Los Barilles hotel through the storm and we got dumped on for 30 hours. Mucho agua. Talked to a local and he said the rain filled
a 5 gallon bucket up half way. The main road was a river and power was lost for 5 hours through the night.
JZ - 7-26-2006 at 10:47 PM
It caused big surf on the mainland at San Carlos.

Storms, Hurricanes aren't something you'd want to come visiting. Been thru several on the MS Gulf Coast. Camille was bad, a windblown nightmare!
Katrina was worse.
