Factor54 hosts First Annual Cuatro Casas Surf/Skate Extravaganza
25 July, 2006 : - - Baja California - "I can feel TA's presence just being here" Said F54 team manager Andy Ocampo, referring to the bowl designed by
legendary skateboarder Tony Alva in the backyard of this Baja California surf/skate outpost which played host to the companies first annual Cuatro
Casas surf/skate contest.
"The intent was to have an event that was part contest, part free session, and part get- together that also allowed the kids and parents of both teams
to really get to know each other over a full weekend. It also allowed for the team managers to strategize with the respective teams for upcoming
events and contests." Said Ocampo from F54's Costa Mesa headquarters.
Huntington Beach's Shane Butler took top honors for the event demonstrating his skills in both land and water. Butler proved to be unstoppable in the
bowl as well as throwing down a solid performance in waves. "Shane was in the zone today and just handled the whole event" said F54 president Todd
Miller.
Newport's own Victor Done proved to be the standout surfer on the trip going vertical on seemingly every wave though dwindling wave conditions saw
Done waiting for the wave that never came in the final which relegated him to a close second though some called it a tie for top honors. Rounding out
3rd and 4th spots were ultra mini groms Blake Davis and Colin Moran, ages 13 and 11 respectively.
The weekend proved a great time for all present at the F54 event and everyone is now looking forward to next years event.
