'got baja?' HATS ??? YES: take a look...

David K - 7-26-2006 at 06:54 PM

Because of responces posted on the El Rosario Festival thread regarding ordering more hats:

Please use this classified ads forum thread to request your 'got baja?' hat...

Let me know how many of you Nomads want one (or more) so I can get an idea of how many to have made...

Tan with velcro size adjustment is probably the way to go...?

I will let you know when I get the costs and estimated shipping charge... They will be made in Baja, as are the 'got baja?' stickers.

The first prototype as seen in El Rosario... see the final version further down the thread...

And set up a PAYPAL acct so everyone can PREPAY for the hats so you can CYA.

David K - 7-26-2006 at 07:19 PM

Thanks for the nice words... while it does cost me to mail out the stickers, it is my pleasure to give something back to all who share their stories here and get a smile off the 'got baja?' stickers... I mean there is just about every other 'got (something)?' sticker out there... right? A couple of you have mailed me stamps or donated to a good cause in Baja, which is great.

I mean you guys are great people, and this Baja Nomad site (like the Amigos de Baja site before) is a wonderful way to share Baja details and meet friends... also to help others.

I think we like to express our Baja love affair, and bumper stickers are one way... Until Doug produces Baja Nomad stuff, my 'got baja?' or the previous 'Viva Baja' stickers is a way we can spot a friend on the road.

The stickers will be free while they last, and I hope to offer the hats at a reasonable price... specially for orders of 10 or more!:o:biggrin:

Diver - 7-26-2006 at 07:41 PM

Thanks David !!

I'll take 4 for sure.
(If a smaller size is available, I'd take 7 total with 3 smalls)
I like the lighter color but either will do.
Velcro sounds good.

I think your 'got baja ?' stickers are the most recognizable Baja memorebelia in recent history. I sure get a lot of comments on ours.
Seems everyone wants to join in with the Baja feeling !!

Now if we could just get Doug moving on the Nomad gear ........
.

Diver - 7-26-2006 at 07:44 PM

...........got baja ?............T-shirts ??? :?::lol:

You print them and we'll buy 'em DK !

.

Sallysouth - 7-26-2006 at 08:41 PM

Ok, I'll take 10!! Velcro is the way to go with those hats, if your head gets swollen by the heat all ya need to do is reach around and "walla!" Serious David, I'll take 10!! T-shirts have to have pockets tho...(on the front..he he)

Diver - 7-26-2006 at 09:31 PM

Your head swells in the heat ??????

Sounds like a silicone reaction !!
I saw it happen to a few old girlfriends, first hand.

David: I will take 10 Caps if you put "Baja Sur" on them!

Hey! We need a "David K." in Baja Sur. Anybody have any Ideas about setting up a a Baja Sur Site?/

At my recent Visit at Lera's Casa in La Paz there were some real good Nomads who could be the next "David K. of Baja Sur".

As you all Know the Norte is getting overrun by all the Tourist- Baja Sur is still unspoiled{ at least for the next 5 years}

Skeet,

I will gladly volunteer to forsake life in the wilds of Washington and make the monumental sacrific to spend most of my time in Baja Sur and report on everything I do (almost ?).
I just need to sell the house and find someone to pay for the kid's college and medical insurance and I'll be all set !
Any volunteers ??? :biggrin::lol:

Al G - 7-28-2006 at 07:04 PM

My guess is he will want to keep it simple so we can get really quality caps, but DK should at least autograph the in side of the bill....Well he is our celebrity Nomad.

David K - 7-28-2006 at 07:43 PM

Okay amigos... it is looking like something we can do with the response so far!

I am going to try and make this work to the benefit of BajaNomad.com and have already talked with Doug about making the hats an item on Doug's "Tienda Baja Nomad" located at the top of each Nomad page in the brown bar. That way it will be easy for you to order and use PayPal, etc.

Details will be posted...

6 for me,

David K - 7-29-2006 at 09:33 PM

Next question:

Is the artwork that Antonio (BajaCactus) created at his printing company for the bumper stickers okay with you all for the hat?

[Edited on 7-30-2006 by David K]

woody with a view - 7-29-2006 at 09:44 PM

how about the "got baja?" in the circle on the front and the "vivabaja.com" on the sideband or over the opening on the rear?

Bob and Susan - 7-30-2006 at 07:42 AM

that's a good idea woody:light:

David K - 7-30-2006 at 11:21 AM

Okay great... as long as it makes you all smile!

As I said earlier, I am probably going to partner with Doug on the distribution to help BajaNomad.com since it is because of this web site that you are made aware of the hats and we all know about each other.

Viva Baja everyone... and Viva Baja Nomad!

A very classy act !

Debra - 7-30-2006 at 12:33 PM

David, should we 'pony up' some money to get this started, seems like it might be pretty expencive to get started. Obviously there is enough interest, but, I'm sure you need start-up money to get it rolling. I'd be willing to prepay. Let us know......thanks!

David K - 7-30-2006 at 07:14 PM

Okay Debra... thanks!

I will post right here when I know the details will be firm...

I suspect we will take orders and promiss delivery within a reasonable period.

Thanks guys...

David K - 8-1-2006 at 08:10 PM

Fresh email from Antonio says prices still being calculated... IF is is less expensive to have just the 'got baja?' on them (like the ones I had made in the photo above) instead of the 'got baja?/vivabaja.com' oval logo I will make them that way... Fun shouldn't be expensive... right gang?

GOT BAJA?

Al G - 8-1-2006 at 08:35 PM

DK, Vivabaja would be nice, looking closely at your hats they look great, maybe a quarter space on "?". Cost wise I could not accept less for price and if it is a issue then I would prefer the oval around GOT BAJA to Vivabaja on the back.
I am a cap collector, and the last two Baja Hats I bought are sorrily lacking in stability after first wash. I feel this is an important issue and am hoping for a good outcome. I speak only for myself, but the price is not "hat" important.

Al G - 8-1-2006 at 08:40 PM

I forgot to say, I will take w"hat" I get!!!:spingrin::spingrin:
AND like it a lot:coolup:

FIRST LOOK!

David K - 8-6-2006 at 04:47 PM

Here is the sample, I placed my first order... I hope this is what you hoped for... I know that I am very happy with what Antonio did to help create them! Some more photos follows...

David K - 8-6-2006 at 04:47 PM

Great for four wheeling!

David K - 8-6-2006 at 04:48 PM

David K - 8-6-2006 at 04:49 PM

David K - 8-6-2006 at 04:50 PM

David K - 8-6-2006 at 04:51 PM

'got baja?' hats are great for shell collecting!

David K - 8-6-2006 at 04:52 PM

Yes, they are comfortable!

David K - 8-6-2006 at 04:52 PM

Happy Baja Nomad!

Diver - 8-6-2006 at 06:30 PM

Looks great David !!
Where/when do we pay ??

David K - 8-6-2006 at 07:51 PM

Thanks Diver... Yes, they are very well done!

I have offered to have Doug sell them on the Tienda Baja Nomad, otherwise I will post an address to send your checks to. There are requests for 78 hats in this thread (so far)!

I should have the details in the next two days of where to send your checks and for how much...

Thanks again for the suggestions everyone... the hat reflects your input!

The first production batch will be ready sometime this week, so no long delays to send out the first orders we receive, and the following orders should be easy to fill in the next week or so...

Viva Baja!

HERE are the details (8-9-06):

Send your CHECK or MONEY ORDER with your name and address printed on a seperate note to:

DAVID KIER

P.O. BOX 621

SAN LUIS REY, CA 92068

Hats sent postpaid are $20 U.S. each (U.S., Canada and Mexico)

'got baja?' hats do come from Baja, please allow reasonable time to receive your hats...

GOOD NEWS for early orders: I am picking up the my first order this FRIDAY (8-11) and will be shipping out to those of you who get their orders to me, as soon as I receive them!

Those who are not among the first to order can expect their hats to be sent out within 2 weeks following receipt of their order....

I know you will enjoy showing off your 'Baja spirit'!

I will also be happy to add a 'got baja?' bumper sticker to each box I ship out!

Read closely.... I mentioned getting hats for myself and my FRIENDS. jejeje

David K - 8-7-2006 at 02:32 PM

This is a Classified Ads forum for Miscl. Baja Items being offered for sale... I think if I or Baja Andy were giving hats away for free, we could do that on the General Baja Discussion Forum...

How about keeping this thread about the 'got baja?' hats... They are already designed, and I showed you the final version. So, the only other posts here should be regarding ordering questions... right?

The cost of the hats is known... What I am trying to discover is how much will the price of shipping and handling be... STAY TUNED!

MICK - 8-7-2006 at 06:21 PM

David, when you get the price together maybe you could start a new thread so we don't have to keep reading all the stuff here. It would be easier for us who don't want to read everyones elses orders? I know some one will pick on me for this so I have at it
Mick

fishuntr - 8-7-2006 at 06:44 PM

One for me David
Thanks

Bob H - 8-7-2006 at 07:12 PM

How about hats for "Got Mulegh?" "Got Loreto?" "Got Santo Tomas?" "Got Bahia Conception?" "Got BOLA?" etc etc etc... hahahahaha
Bob H

Diver - 8-7-2006 at 08:55 PM

Some of us really want the hats. If some don't, that's fine.
This thread was posted for those that want the hats for whatever reason.
I enjoy meeting others with Baja interests and these hats will help those that want to be identified, meet other like-minded individuals. And no, I'm not normally a "joiner", just in love with Baja.

Hope you are really enjoying yourself, Lencho.
Maybe too much sauce ?? Or not enough ?? Just bored ??
.

David K - 8-7-2006 at 09:57 PM

Okay guys... yes, I will start a new thread in this Classified Ads Miscl. Baja forum as soon as I have the firm price. I think I have U.S. price figured... For those of you in the 'Promissed Land' (ie. Baja California)... or 'the other B.C.' (in Canada), I need to check a couple more sources...

Lencho, yes I was aware of that web site and no, it is nobody I know.

As Diver understands, this is all about good fun and showing off that we are infected with 'Baja Fever'!

'got humor?'

Don't misunderstand me, but I'm sure no one on the Nomads(with the obvious exception) cares. I do think it would be good ideal for Dk or Doug to pick-up. That would make my first line irreverent:lol::lol::lol:
Thank you Larry for that.

Pardon my ignorance, how long is a trademark good for and how does abandonment work? They just don't renew it, or is it an overt act?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trademark

"Trademarks rights must be maintained through actual use of the trademark. These rights will diminish over time if a mark is not actively used. In the case of a trademark registration, failure to actively use the mark, or to enforce the registration in the event of infringement, may also expose the registration itself to removal from the register after a certain period of time.

"All jurisdictions with a mature trademark registration system provide a mechanism for removal in the event of such non use, which is usually a period of either three or five years. The intention to use a trade mark can be proven by a wide range of acts as shown in the Wooly Bull and Ashton v Harlee cases.

"In the U.S., failure to use a trademark for this period of time, aside from the corresponding impact on product quality, will result in abandonment of the mark, whereby any party may use the mark."

http://www.uspto.gov/main/glossary/index.html#ABAND

An application that has been declared abandoned is "dead" and no longer pending. Abandonment occurs under several circumstances. The most common reason is when the USPTO does not receive a response to an Office Action letter from an applicant within 6 months from the date the Office action letter was mailed. Another instance is when the USPTO does not receive a Statement of Use (or request for an extension of time to file a statement of use) from an applicant within 6 months from the issuance of a Notice of Allowance.

oldjack - 8-8-2006 at 10:18 AM

I'll take 6 and if you get the shirts I'll take some of those too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Saw my first "got Baja" sticker at Verdugo's (Dave??) a few weeks ago... I am in L.B frequently but don't see the stickers..........

David K - 8-8-2006 at 04:10 PM

Thanks oldjack and fishuntr...

For those of you who made requests in this thread... You all together have requested 85 hats! Get ready, because....

Hat Prices will be posted tonight, as soon as I confirm with Doug about having them sold on Baja Nomad and the final price... I will start a new thread in this forum with the price.

Good news on the cost of shipping to Canada and Mexico (air mail was better than ground), plus all U.S. orders will be sent Priority Mail (it actually was the best deal).

[Edited on 8-8-2006 by David K]

Phil C - 8-8-2006 at 04:46 PM

David, better make that 90 hats, I'll want some too. Thanks....Phil C.

jerry - 8-8-2006 at 04:52 PM

i hope hes going to make a lot of extras?? im sure theres going to be lots of requests as soon as the price is quoted and the first ones get to the ppl who ordered them

David K - 8-8-2006 at 05:40 PM

I can make as many as you guys want... the source is good... I had enough $$ to actually make several for those of you who order first, so no long wait to get your hats... the rest of you, as soon as your checks or credit card clears (if done through Doug's PayPal), I will place additional orders which should take no more than a week, I believe.

From the u2u's and emails I have received (added to the posts in this thread), it would appear that well over 100 people will 'get' Baja in the first orders.

I guess t-shirts are not far behind (with pockets, yes)! I want a large Baja map or the peninsula outline to be the primary item, with 'got baja?' as the message... I think that would be really cool!

Thank you Baja Nomads and friends for your enthusiasm!

More Hats

Al G - 8-8-2006 at 09:21 PM

I only ordered 3. 1 for me and 2 for friends. I think I will need 5.
3 for me, because sand color will get dirty fast. I will wear 2 and wash, but one will be for Black Tie affairs.:lol::lol:
When is the next Baja black tie event???
I would also, like to add 3 Xlarge Tee's with pockets.
All for ME!

Diver - 8-8-2006 at 09:50 PM

100% cotton on those T-shiirts, I hope !?!?
We ARE all natural, after all !

If you do kid's sizes, I need one of everything from 5 year old on up !!
And, of course a few color-coordinated XL's for me !
