Tinaco levels?

Larry

Just tie into the bottom with a clear plastic hose 3/8-1/2 inch drill that size hole in the top, stick the tubing into that leave it open and you will have a sight gage.

I have mine the same way as comitan it works good.

Buy it at a hardware/plumbing supply store. Stays clear for a year or so here where it gets in the sun half a day - but it's cheap so I replace it every 18 months or so. - (Have to do that tomorrow)

What kind of tubing you using? Is it staying clear?

Thanks-- Larry

I'm using just what they had at the hardware store here in Mulege it is 6 years old and still clear

YOu're gonna love this...when I put my tinaco on my roof my 10 year old neighbour Gordo helped me and I asked him the same question about how do ya know when it's empty and he said... oh that's easy and he disappeared and came back with a "dinky toy" little car with a string tied around it and a cork at the other end of the string which should be the same length as the tank height. We drilled a little hole near the top and put the cork end in the water tank and let the dinky car hang over the side of the tank so the litle hotrod rides up and down the side of the tank depending on the level of the water. Brilliant and it has been there for 6 years working like a charm.

This is GREAT. wish I had done it.

I did the clear plastic pipe, inch and a quarter to be exact, and when it got hard to see, I put an orange float ball in it, the kind you get in the fishing section of a store. It worked great and helped see the level of the water.

Fun Fun Fun

Maybe to high tech. You only need 1 led circuit set for reverse and push a rocker s/w to see if the LED is off at 1/4 tank. This is a very basics Motor Home circuit. Easy to solder.
I could get a price for components if anyone is interested. I also will build one and test it as I will need one too. The most expensive component will be the power supply (like a cell phone charger) if you don't have access to some DC source. Adding a 6v regulator is easy or a 6v dry cell lantern battery would last (open circuit) would last forever. It would be an easy, fun project.

I forgot to ask what is the difference between a Pila and a tinaco. I think they are both water tanks or my last post was real stupid.

bajalou - 8-6-2006 at 09:15 AM

In this part of Baja, a pila is a above ground tank for water storage.
