This is Web Site anti-motorcycle??????

Corky1 - 8-10-2006 at 04:48 PM

I posted this information request in questions and answer forum.

"Some motorcycle friends of mine are doimg a 3-4 week, DEC-JAN Baja ride.
They want to ship some extra tires and tubes ahead for spares.
They would like to do this to the Mulege area.

Would you know of a responsible person in that area I might contact that would recieve these item from a shipper and hold on to them till they got there.

Also what would you suggest for a method of shipping??

Thanks, Corky "

It was posted for 24 hrs, 88 views and not one response???

Don Alley - 8-10-2006 at 05:06 PM

I have nothing against motorcycle riders, but I do like the Sierra Club.

capt. mike - 8-10-2006 at 05:08 PM

Corky - stay with baja.net if you want more biker enthusiasts IMHO.

not a whole lot of action here in that arena. Seems to be more camper types with cages.

bajabound2005 - 8-10-2006 at 05:42 PM

the SCORE website might have some info that would be helpful as far as what you can bring in for spares....look through the member list for people who are in Mulege. Might not be anyone there to receive and store for you...

woody with a view - 8-10-2006 at 05:43 PM

where's bruce?

Anonymous - 8-10-2006 at 05:50 PM

Corky if you wanted a response you should have posted a photo of one of the bikers and his girl friend having a bucket of beer with breakfast and you would get many ooohhhs and aaaawwwws on the thread.
Of course it would help if they were wearing a hat with got baja on it.

I'm again trying to head down in November and maybe could help. I will be down for several months so must complete a contract before I go so my dates are iffy. (bet the spell checker won't find that) Don't know how many, but maybe I can haul them down in my Motorhome, and meet you in Mulege'. I am hoping to make the Tuna tourney. I know I'm doing a lot of HOPING, but at least you made me a tire on the list for mine

Bob and Susan - 8-10-2006 at 07:35 PM

corky...there's a shipper in TJ by otay...

can your boys get to tj?

we're in Upland still....

i'm sure bruce would hold them...

I responded and suggested that you try this. Sounds like you got a little help and a couple of nice offers. AND you got peoples attention.

Perhaps, Captain Mike is correct.

toneart - 8-10-2006 at 11:42 PM

The Sierra Club graphic is a bit putoffish if you expect to enlist more help.

oxxo - 8-11-2006 at 05:51 AM

"This is Web Site anti-motorcycle??????"

Are you anti-Sierra Club??????

Diver - 8-11-2006 at 06:10 AM

Trying to make a big deal over nothing, eh ??

This is the summer and most Nomads have left Mulege area until fall. Bruce is in the process of moving. No one responded because no one could help right now. This has nothing to do with liking motorcycles or not.
Better un-twist your panties !

Bob and Susan - 8-11-2006 at 06:15 AM

Divers right...we just got back and the place is EMPTY!!!

they all come back in October

surfer jim - 8-11-2006 at 07:06 AM

"88 views and no response".....and what should be the correct number of views before a response?:?:

....now...let me finish my beer......

Corky1 - 8-11-2006 at 09:24 AM

I regret having to go to this extreame to get some answers.
I don't regret doing it.

Thank you all, I have the info I needed, recieved from others not on this site.

They did read this posting and contacted me with the info I requested.

Thanks Doug for having this site.

Some OTHER ANSWERS:

Don Alley- As you can see from my signature "No I don't like the Sierra Club

Capt Mike- Thanks.

Soulpatch-In the short time I have been on this site it seems to me some persons always have something to say about everything!!

Bajabound2005- Thanks, good idea checking member list.

Woody- I think he is enroute to Ensenada.

Anonymous-- Not a bad idea!!

Al G- Thanks for the offer

Bob&Susan Thank you for the info

Bernie- Thank you for your help. Sorry I had to go to this extreme to get any replys.

Toneart--Wait till SIERRA CLUB gets organized in Baja. Then it won't be so "putoffish"

OXXO- YES!!

Diver- Undies untwisted!! But I had to make this post to do that.

Bob&Susan- Their are also many EX-PATS in the area that are year round residents.

Surfer Jim- Finish your beer and go back to sleep.

Anti Motorcycles?

Cypress - 8-11-2006 at 01:29 PM

Why would anybody be anti those high strung wing dings? A heavy thumping road bike is another story, a sweet sound.:lol:

Skeet/Loreto - 8-11-2006 at 03:53 PM

I started to respond on the very first Post. but as I am here in the Great State of Texas-the Panhandle! which is just about the Motorcycle{Harley} Capital of this good ole USA I thought others would have the knowledge to assist You more than I!
One of the many reasons I left my Beloved Loreto was that I was suddenly blessed with those Noisey Personal WaterCraft running up anddown in Fron of my Palapa on Loreto Bay.
Also subject to those Noiesy 4 Wheels playing around in the Sand Beach next to my Palapa on the Beach!
Then one night at Midnight the Famous{Nightriders} came flying by at about 1 O'Clock in the Morning{About 40 } dressed in their Black Garb.!

Loreto was no more the quiet Village that I had gone to in 1968.

that being said'Every person has the right to exercise their Free will and Accord".
So we Left our Formerly Sea Of Cortex Beach and Loreto.
Now I live in a Grated Community of Horse Lovers and those 'Nosiey" machines are Prohibited.
Now I am in the Harley Capital of the World and watch those Beautifull Machines going by with the Helmetless Riders Killing themselves, nearly on a Daily Basis{Look up the Stats on MotorCycles in the Texas Panhandle}.

I am somewhat predjiced aganist Noisey Machines- But again that is your Right? But Please use a Helmut- My cost of Insurance is going up every day paying for the fixing of the broken heads and bodies of the Motorcyle riders.

capt. mike - 8-11-2006 at 04:04 PM

but Skeet......what about a good ol' open c-ckpit biplane, like a stearman boeing circa 1942?? bet you like that sound of a 225 hp jacobs!!

signed....a reformed Harley rider who bumped once with a cage and now prefers 4 wheels instead of 2!!

Bikers are a rare breed. Harley riders are a dime a dozen. ;D

I would love to do that for you , it is the kind of thing I like doing for any Nomad . but I am not sure where I will be at that time.

some of the best environmentalists I know are Motorcycle riders and some of the worst are in the Serra club:lol:

Skeet/Loreto - 8-12-2006 at 03:52 AM

Capt. Mike and Corky:
Did not mean to Offend! As Jack Webb said "Just the Facts Mam".
Very well said" There are Bikers and then there are Harley Riders.
Yeah! Capt. Mike. Nothing Like a Super Cub doing Flip Flops over the Eastern Sierras!!, or taking an old TG2 to 14,000 Ft. on a Thermal with Lift at 2600 Ft. a Minute.Much better than Jumping out of an Aircraft at 12,000 Ft. over Lake Elsinore!
To each His Own!

Looks like all of us are a "Little bit Touched in the Head'.

Then there is the Great Lakes bi-plane my brother owned years ago. Ah!!!!!!!!!!! Rockin chair memories!!!!!!!!!!
Those were the 'windy' years in the co-pilots seat. Then he 'dumped it twice', walking away both times. Finally 'got the message' & sold it. Not a good plane to own after 40 hours of 'practicing' in a Cessna 172. He hasn't flown since.
