Anybody know if there is a way to get on line with prodigy.net.mx in California ? I tried it a few years ago but could never do it.

I think that you have to go to prodigy.com.mx
It has been a while since I did it.

If you have the same computor you use for acess in Mexico, when you go on line it dials 123 9222 which is Mexico City. I think if you put the area codes etc as you would call long distance in the box with the 123 9222 it might work but it would be a long distance call, you could run up a hefty bill.

I don't know...but...

Seems to me you have to configure your tcp/ip DNS address to hook you up to the DNS address of the prodigy servers. So theoretically, if you have a connection to the internet anywhere from any internet service provider you can instruct your computer to go to the prodigy server address.

So you have to know how to manually configure your internet connection. I did mine, but I use a Mac.

I'm in Montana now with a new computer, but seems that the DNS addresses I have for the prodigy servers I access from Loreto are:

216.211.191.9
216.211.190.3

However, you must do this through an ISP (Internet Service Provider) portal, which you have to pay for, and they put you online, so why do you need prodigy? So, for example, to post here on Nomad from my Montana residence I must have a local service; I cannot use my Mexican prodigy anywhere.

Hope this helps and not confuses.

Went to the link, saw a drop down menu, lots of cities, but none near me. I did not see any phone numbers. And I don't think I have a dialup modem anyway.

I don't miss Prodigy or Telmex anyway.

I got on successfully in Reno, NV a couple of years ago when visiting the US. Used my own laptop. I just connected with the number for Reno and used my regular user id and password and it worked fine. I'm too impatient for dial up speed now so I travel without the computer instead and just blow off the work.
