to add a forum for those of us willing and able to host other Nomad's that might like to visit other areas (our home states) and need a place to stay
and a 'tour conductor'?
I personally have met many new (now old) friends "Amigos, Nomads"), from offers in that way.....
I think it would be really great to somehow have a list by area that we could go to and find a place to camp/room/shower or just kick back while
traveling or for an extended stay. I'd be happy to be first on the list. Thanks, Debra

sounds like a great idea to me
BajaNomad - 8-22-2006 at 12:08 AM
Will ponder the best way to do this.
Please remain in touch about such.
Thanks.

Debra that is a really good idea.
Diver - 8-22-2006 at 06:15 AM
Great idea !
Seems so many of us travel to and from Baja, invariably passing other Nomad's home towns on their way.
I've got an RV hook-up and dinner for any passing Nomads.
I would love to connect with some of you CA Nomads on my way down this year.

Put me on the Nomad map...(Northern CA). Good wine & beer, unsolicited, questionable advice and, oh yes, you would probably have to endure my
cooking. I'm here during the summer months.

OOPS! that was very anti-social of me to post the above without logging in.

Thanks to the 5 responders......now, how about the other 116 viewers chime in? Bad idea, Good idea? Thoughts?
One thing that came to my mind is that for Doug to host such a forum, he would need (of course) to add a disclaimer, releasing him of any liabilty if
something bad should happen (which is not really a concern of mine) Nomads Bad? No WAY!!!! However, we would have to all use our own judgement and
instinks when agreeing to host someone.
As DK mentioned not long ago on this forum, I boarded a train, alone, totally putting my trust in someone else's hands (not an easy deal for me) And I
found two strangers (that lasted about 5 seconds!) Young Sarah gave me a huge hug and all of my apprehencion went away! From that, I've met friends
that I'll treasure for life!
Some I don't get to see very often, (DESERT RAT!, when are you going to come up and climb that hill!?) Some I see (or talk to often) My best friend
Mary Ann Humfreville, and her ever annoying, but, (what a heart he has in spite of himself husband Mike) They have bailed my sorry butt out several times!
Anyway, my home is open for Nomads to visit the Great Pacific Northwest, and since I missed the last 4th of July in Bahia, I'll even make Clam
Chowder!
baja Steve - 8-22-2006 at 12:56 PM
I also think this is a great IDEA. I live in Central Oregon and also have a house on the Oregon coast
Debra - 8-22-2006 at 01:21 PM
Thank you "baja Steve" for your input, Bend Oregon I know....great place! Where is your house on the coast? For those that haven't been, it is one
of the most beautiful places on our planet......
Most Nomads seem to live in So. California, while I know that it's really hard to get the rigs into 'North gear' it CAN happen!
Lately I've been more and more interested in Utah.....how beautiful! "Arches National" park I just have to see......

I would add my name to that list except I live in a RV park in the East bay of San Francisco. I could act as tour guide.
The BART system is a great way to see the City and all over. I know most line well. I could prearrange RV spots here. (best in the East Bay) These are
sometime hard to get, but I will do my best. My front bed would not be considered a vacation, but may help in an needed situation.
El Camote - 8-22-2006 at 02:20 PM
This is a great idea, even from Debra. I used to be part of a similar type of
list for Volkswagen bus owners, when I had one. They organized it by state and city and what you were willing or able to provide. And most
importantly, your drink of choice.

It's a great idea, but I'd also be willing to swap houses for periods of time. A week or two on the beach at our house in Punta Banda for a similar
situation in, say, Newport, OR or the San Juan Islands in Washington.
David K - 8-22-2006 at 04:28 PM
My home is in Oceanside, I have an extensive collection of Baja books and maps... as well as the movie 'Bajo California' which is the Baja lovers cult
film and El Camote's great videos from 2001... The Matomi Movie, BBBB-1, and Lost Mission Search Preview featuring Desert Rat and his call of the
wild!
Anyway, with a bit of notice to make sure I'm here and have enough cerveza in the fridge, I welcome Nomads to stop over for a while.
One step in my home and the Mike McMahan wall map above the frieplace and many Baja Satellite Photos from Arman's (SatMan) SatPrints.com on my walls
will leave no doubt that I have Baja Fever!

Great idea! I will be moving to San Ignacio first part of Sept and would love to host guests. The place isn't fancy and very basic but the fridge
should be stocked and the welcome mat out.
David and I are in Laguna Niguel, CA
M - 8-27-2006 at 06:07 AM
We are right off the La Paz exit on the 5 fwy.
Any amigos are welcome for a shower, bed, hot meal and good company for the night. We are 65 miles from the border. Just tell us what kind of beer you
want and it will be waiting for you.
This is a great idea! why stay in motels when Nomads are available?
Hugs, M
Neal Johns - 8-27-2006 at 08:11 AM
Works for me! Think of the possibilities! Each visitor must take one dog home with them and leave one WiW!
Seriously, sounds like a good idea (even from Debra).
Good ideas
djh - 8-27-2006 at 09:03 AM
We like the idea too.
A simple way to start might be to simply start a list (or a check mark somehow on our profile) including a few basic facts like:
Nomad nickname
City & State (or cities)
Offerring (RV space, spare room, a meal, etc.)
General time info...
Special requests, needs, or info (nonsmoking - etc. type stuff)
And arrangements could be made via U2U...?
... Don't want to create too much work for Doug or put our information "out there" for a nice spam sandwich or someone lurking for trouble.....
I bet some of you've even better ideas...!

bajaguy - 8-27-2006 at 09:08 AM
OK, I'm in......trade some time at our Baja Country Club house in Ensenada for.....??????
Marie-Rose - 8-27-2006 at 12:11 PM
Count us in as well!!! Victoria BC ...steps to ocean. Unfortunately not any room for
RV parking but bedroom available!!!
Also will have lots of room at Casa Loma (once the horrible construction mess is done!)
Would love to see some nomads next spring!!
AND I totally agree with Neal... take a dog with you!!!! We always have some available!!
Debra - 8-27-2006 at 01:01 PM
djh: Great idea! I too wouldn't want to put out too much information for the WWW to see.....many of us have done this already on U2U .....having a
list to go to would be great, the details to be worked out in email.
Neal: Not such a great idea... (dog equals road pizza on my street, don't get me wrong, I love dogs, and they are welcome to visit, I'll save the WIW
comment blast for U2!
Neal and Camote: You both hush! Even a silly old woman such as myself has clear moments once in awhile!
Personally, I love to have company (I'm told I'm a pretty good cook also)
My idea is to not ONLY have a B&B along our travels, which is how I've met some of my most loved Baja friends, but to also have a place with a
friend to show us around if possible, if we are wanting to vacation in a new place. House trade is also okay with me.
Doug, I know this might cause you alot of extra work, if I wasn't so bad with the computer thing I would offer to take over the extra burden. Maybe
someone could teach me?
Anyway, I like this list idea.......
bajaguy - 8-27-2006 at 08:14 PM
I was going to ask if there was a way on this board to list Nomads by their locations (in a private section)....both north and south of the
border....so that we could u2 them, or contact them if we needed asistance while travelling.....although the ideas on this post may solve that
problem.
windgrrl - 9-20-2006 at 06:04 PM
Great idea!
