I really enjoyed that photo moto tour! Brought back the best of memories. Thank you so much, motoged.

always enjoy the photo memories of a fellow nomad! Very cool pics! I think we took a similiar route for our honeymoon, and yes, Coco's has some of my undies too!!!

I'm convinced I have a picture of that same road crew. On the road from San Nicolas back to the highway. You came in from the Bahia over to San Sebastian, through Ramadita, and made a lap down to the beach at San Nicolas then back to the highway, Right? February '05 ?

At any rate, thanks for the memories. Very familair territory.

Very nice photos, I've ridden in many of the same places you guys were at. I'm from Kamloops also, I recognize one of the guys in your pictures (#80), but I can't remember his name right now. Last time I talked to him he was riding a XR650R, it looks like he still is. It looks like you guys put on quite a few miles, any bike troubles? I'll be heading down sometime around Christmas with my XR650L.

Wow, I really enjoyed your pics, almost felt like I was there :) Your Mulege church pics were fabulous!
Thank you,

Tina

That's pretty wild. I was in San Nicolas at the time, had been for a month or so, and heard your rumbling four strokes make the pass through the village. Being an old dirt biker, I actually made my way out toward the road to see who was visiting, but you were already on your way back toward the highway.

I wish you were in the neighborhood now! It may be that only a bike can get out there, and we are so very anxious for any information about our friends and our property.

Great place huh?

San Nicholas road south?

Vgabundo,
I have been rading this forum to keep up with storm news.. my sympathies for those who experienced losses.

Is there a road going south along the coast out of SN that would link up with the highway...or just the one heading west??? I was very taken with the canyon area west of SN (where they were doing that road repair). The Baja is so full of wonders around each bend in the road.

We will be in that area again this early January....I will linger longer in SN to give you a chance to walk out to greet us with a cold cuomo :)

I got some gas and gossip from a fellow in San Seb. who has a "surfer" home on the south end of SB bay and who said he grew wild rice near Chico, CA.....a very brief but pleasureable oasis (very sweet hideaway cove, too).

Hi Ged:

Yea, I know "Wildrice"...nice guy. His place is right in the mouth of the arroyo and we are very much concerned about him and the the rest of those guys at San Sebastian.

The road south down the beach only goes to about Punta Pulpito as far as I've been on it. The next raod going back to the pavement would be another ~ 7 mi. Another option for some excitement would be to take the arroyo west out of San Nicolas, that is the route of the old road. Impassable by truck, but maybe do-able on a scooter. There is undocumented rock art along the way, but who knows what that canyon might look like after John.

My place in San Nic. is (or was) due south of the point where the road comes down off the mesa into the arroyo, in the palms.

Small world.

Perry,
I sincerely hope your place in SN is OK....I am not surprised by the storm damage reported on the discussion list, but am saddened by the loss and destruction...

"Wildrice"....I have forgotten his real name but that tag is a good one....

That arroyo leading into San Sebastion from the west would be a real funnel into that bay....have you any word how SN and SS have been affected????

Feel free to contact me off-list at <motoged@shaw.ca> if this is cluttering this list....I have some questions about some of the area.....

I WAS looking for that old road out of SN (marked in Baja Almanac), but it appeared that it might be leading through a family's yard/property....but your comment makes me want to try it this coming January....

I had no flats in 2500 kms...we will see how it goes this winter's ride for 4 weeks...

That trip was March/05....I also spent 5 days there in '02 in January....it can be cool in evening and windy, but that almost goes without saying for winter months.

We will be back there this Dec and Jan...

Can hardly wait ;D
