Tourist cards for naturalized US citizens?

thebajarunner - 12-8-2003 at 10:18 PM

One of my adopted sons from Mexico is taking his family down to La Paz at Christmas.
Juan naturalized as a full citizen some years back, his wife has a green card but is not naturalized, the two daughters were both born in the US...
Question (for all you legal scholars)
Who among them needs a full visa at TJ before venturing South. Will Mexico still recognize the native born son? I assume the wife is o.k. without but what about ID? The two kids are under 18, born US. I assume that they will need visas.
YIKES!!! This is getting complicated..
Who has a quick and accurate answer?

your son and his wife need to get their mexican passports or consulate cards at the mexican consulate and they will be fine. just make sure they have their american papers with them to go back to the u.s.
their two kids can also get mexican passports, but i dont know if that's easier than just getting tourist visas.
for everyone, they can either go to the consulate and travel in mexico with mexican papers (that's what i do) or get papers as tourists. i prefer traveling with mexican papers, makes things easier, and i don't have to keep track of forms and such, just my mexican passport and my naturalization certificate.

Thanks, I zapped that info to him,
will be interesting to see how he handles it all,
I think he needs to take all of his US docs. with him and just pay the $20 per head for all the Gringos, but it is up to him.
Travelling in Baja is not difficult like the mainland can be, paperwise.
My wife was born in Jalisco, is US naturalized, she takes her US passport and goes Gringa all the way.
