Building in Mulege

cat127 - 9-9-2006 at 11:24 AM

So after life begins to take on semblance of normal in Mulege, and people start rebuilding - can anyone tell me about the building "codes" etc? If I understand, if an arch signs off - life is good. Is this also kinda like traffic tix - one cost on job site one cost at Bldg Dept (if there is one...) I guess Bruce could answer some ???'s but he has his hands full.

We have some plans for a small casita that is up off the ground on cinder blocks, or hollow tile they call them here in Hawaii. The arch stamped them already for a project here - if it okay for him to redo them - what is the building process I guess I am askign after all that......

If you build on a flood plain/tide surge zone, sooner or later you're gonna get wet. Check the elevations, talk to old-timers. Beware!

the Government is talking about not allowing any rebuilding in the flood plane. nothing is for sure yet but I would not spend money on anything other than cleanup at this point.

I agree with both of you. I am trying to figure out what the process is there. I work with my clients here on plans and permitting so I am trying to kinda get an idea of what is involved there.

(And I know quite a bit about floods! We live in the tsunami zone here! ha ha)
