Family Guy - 12-9-2003 at 09:41 PM
I will be driving down Hwy 1 these days staying in Rosarito, San Quintin, San Ignacio and Mulege.
Would like to know who else is traveling down during this time. Perhaps we could caravan during one or more of the legs or at least keep an out for
each other.
We will be hauling some of the best homemade fudge you ever tasted!
David K - 12-9-2003 at 09:47 PM
Wow, for some of that fudge I may leave a week early! Have a great trip Family
Guy!!!
Free fudge for all nomad amigos!
Family Guy - 12-10-2003 at 10:33 AM
Thanks David. And thanks for the sticker. We'll be easy to spot. Look for the Viva Baja sticker on the back of our Odyssey van to claim
your fudge!
whiteelephant - 12-10-2003 at 10:42 AM
we will probably be crossing the border around the 17th and then camping out south of Rosarita beach. mmmmmm, fudge!
You had better be carrying alot of fudge
Debra - 12-10-2003 at 10:43 AM
now that you let the word out about that Van and the Viva Baja sticker......you may have a bunch of people flaging you down!
Whiteelephant, eh
Family Guy - 12-10-2003 at 01:15 PM
Keep an eye out for us. We'll be cruising Rosarito Beach on Thursday looking for good fish tacos.
Wow, that's mightly early senor Gall!
Family Guy - 12-10-2003 at 06:38 PM
...but we might just take you up on that offer and travel as far as Guerrero Negro or San Ignacio.
....that is if you don't mind traveling with two of sweetest kids you ever had the pleasure of meeting, a lovely brunette, and a fat old warthog whose
wife thinks he's lost his marbles to be dragging his family through the desert for Christmas.
Camalu???
The Gull - 12-10-2003 at 09:26 PM
It is either Camalu or Colonet where there is Panaderia Carmen next to a gas station.
Which is it? Do you recall?
Family Guy - 12-11-2003 at 10:17 AM
got me...
Hey Gull check your U2U.
whiteelephant - 12-11-2003 at 11:06 AM
wow, kids, old farts and warthogs, blonde chicks, sounds like our kind of people (not to mention the fudge "I told you not to mention the fudge").
Hope we meet up and spend travel time, etc.
whiteelephant - 12-11-2003 at 11:08 AM
oops, and brunettes, of course
Family man
The Gull - 12-11-2003 at 06:00 PM
Well, it is one of those towns.
I figure gas at San Ysidro, El Rosario and GN. I have heard from my local buddies that there is something very bad going on with Pemex places from TJ
to Ensenada. They say that the AM/PM are not doing bad things.
Check your U2U.
David K - 12-11-2003 at 08:21 PM
Panaderia Carmen is on the right, higher than the highway, before entering COLONET. This was the bakery Tom Miller raved about in his popular 1974
(and later editions) guide 'The Baja Book'. Tom called it the Purple Panaderia. The owner apparently was overwhelmed with business and painted it a
different color! Last I looked, I think it is purple, again... However, I am partially color-blind... !
traveling Dec 20 on
xylargirl - 12-12-2003 at 12:23 AM
I will be heading down Hwy 1 also. First time by myself there...any suggestions for a single woman traveler? Also is Hwy 3 a good route to get to Hwy
5?...I was hoping to check out camping in San Felipe and head north toward Mexicali on my way back...thanks
4baja - 12-12-2003 at 07:19 AM
thats a great route to take to 5 and check out petes camp on the left before town. great bar and food and good camping on the beach. will be windy and
cold at night so be prepared.
bajalera - 12-12-2003 at 04:21 PM
So, Family Guy, you're maybe coming as far as San Ignacio with the world's best fudge, but not to La Paz!
Where do I file a discrimination suit?

Fudge
The Gull - 12-12-2003 at 06:36 PM
I'm coming to La Paz the next day, can I bring some of Family Man's fudge and avoid litigation for all concerned?
Santa delivery
Keri - 12-12-2003 at 06:40 PM
OK OK you got me ,I want FUDGE. but I'll make you a great trade. I need a santa delivery to mulege , a pair of boots and a salt and pepper shaker to
my 88 year old friend in who lives there. I'll trade you a night here in our hotel your first night out ,which I think is Thursday night. Is that
right, instead of camping , IF you'll take my package down and of course I want some fudge too. and
if you don't want to take my offer I extend it to anyone else that would take my packaga down.

Keri's offer
The Gull - 12-12-2003 at 09:40 PM
If Family Guy wants to use your hotel on his first night, 18th, that is fine. I have a home near Puerto Nuevo so I can't use it. If you want a
delivery of stuff to an oldie in Mulege, I'll take it for you, if Family Man stays with you in La Mision. I'll catch up to him there and on the
morning of the 20th, I will be passing thru Mulege.
Otherwise, Bajabouy looks to be the alternative.
Which Hotel????
Keri's Offer
Family Guy - 12-13-2003 at 10:54 AM
Keri, that sounds great! A double batch of the finest is going into the oven as we speak for such an incredible offer.
Send me a u2u with directions. We will be leaving Bakersfield in the morning on the 18th and expect to arrive your way mid to late afternoon.
Would be more than happy to deliver to Mulege. We will arrive in Mulege either on the 20th or the 21st.
As far as La Paz goes, I had to swear on my life wouldn't drive down farther than Mulege/Bahia C. My wife is counting the miles!
I hear the best lawyers in are La Paz, so looks like I'll have to send some your way via the Gull if he's flying that far south.
oops, better go check the FUDGE.
Keep Alert
The Gull - 12-13-2003 at 11:41 AM
Bajalera, Keri and Family Guy I am going from Rosarito to Santa Rosalia on the 19th. Then Mulege and La Paz on the 20th. I will need directions to
your friend in Mulege, Keri and I will need directions in La Paz to you, Bajalera. Please use u2u.
Got both flaps up and antenna raised
Family Guy - 12-13-2003 at 04:30 PM
Hey Gull,
Almost packed and ready to roll...let's make plans to meet up at Keri's place if that works out.
I am picking up a two way from a friend...Are you still cool with the 6:00 am start?
Keri - 12-13-2003 at 07:14 PM

he'll be warm and happy too. Family guy check your u2u, Everyone else check with him for directions and by the way the Hotel is Pyramid
Resort home of 2nd annual Booksigning and wine tasting. it's May1.2004 ya'll come yuh hear, k
Sounds like a done deal
Family Guy - 12-14-2003 at 12:26 AM
Keri, got your note. I have a pretty good idea of where you are. I'll pass on the info to the Gull.
...here comes the fudge!
Directions
Keri - 12-14-2003 at 09:42 AM
Anyone coming by Pyramid Resort or to La Fonda or La Mision for that fact. please take the exit before. It is called ensenada libre , the exit by
medio camino. They are doing major construction on the bridge just before La Fonda and it is a mess. They have it down to 1 lane and there have been
many accidents. Everyone is advised to take the free road around this . You will see orange construction signs that say La Fonda La MIsion and Plaza
del Mar salida. k Bring on the fudge, yeah.
don't forget us newbies
whiteelephant - 12-17-2003 at 05:56 PM
We in newport beach right now and crossing border tomorrow. Can we still look for family guy in Rosarita Beach in Odyssey on 18th or will y'all be
relaxing in the Hotel? We going on as far as Mulege and Bahia de Concepcion tenting so will probably run into the family of Family Guy and we look
forward to it. We understand there is a good camp just south of Rosarita Beach with showers and pits. Right? Hasta luego. Save 2 pieces of fudge
now y'all hear?
whiteelephant - 12-17-2003 at 08:33 PM
hi gull, thanks for response. we will probably see you somewhere along the line. where is La Fonda? I think we will be staying in San Ignacio also.
whiteelephant - 12-20-2003 at 11:24 AM
well, i guess we wimped out. Got as far as Ensenada and decided not to go to Mulege. Too much driving for us old guys. We will be exploring ocean
campsites between Ensenada and Quintin and checking out the little villages. Is there anything that someone would like to share that is a "go see"?
Family Guy, I guess you will have to eat our two pieces of fudge. We bought the annual car insurance, so to get our moneys worth we will go a bit
further south than Ensenada, lol. Hasa luego.
