We had planned to spend the Winter in Baja Sur and have already purchased our Mexican Insurance. But with the hurricane, I'm wondering when you think
it might be adviseable to do so. I don't want to be part of the problem; nor do I want to stay away if my tourist $$$ would be welcome. I also
don't want to get our 30' motorhome stuck in the any sand that may have been deposited in campgrounds-- (hubby is disabled and I don't care to face
that challenge if I don't have to!)
We had planned to cross the border in mid October so we still have quite a bit of time (but having lived in Florida for many years, I know that
recovering from a hurricane can take ages!) Appreciate your suggestions.
Thanks!
Sandy

Sandy, you didn't say WHERE in Baja Sur....which may or may not make a difference, most things get back to normal pretty quickly down here. I sure
Nomads in specific areas could give you factual current conditions in their neck of the woods! But I wouldn't delay....there are many, many areas you
could park that puppy without more than any more than normal concerns & cautions. Tourist dollars are always appreciated! Besides, if you stay
within shouting distance of other people and do happen to have a problem, you'll typically get suggestions & offers of help from locals &
gringos alike!
IF you can find off-road parking, you could always park it & do a walk-in to check out the terrain & conditions. Ask for
recommendations once you get to an area that looks appealing to you. I'm assuming that either you or you hubby has some experience driving something
that size down here? The roads are narrow at best & I'd predict that you'll clock more high-pitch excitement time on the roads than in RV or
camping areas....as long as you pay attention to where your taking it, you should be fine! If not, don't be hesitant to ask for help! Always keep
your minimum ground clearance in mind & don't go anywhere you're not willing or capable of BACKING OUT if the need arises.
Mid-October is past hurricane season, so keep stocking that puppy & come on down! Regardless of your gas mileage, top off every chance you
get....keep a map handy to see how far it is to the next petential gas! You'll have a great time if you just take it slow & easy!
