Safe to overnight?

Anyone ever overnight at Area Recreo south of Maneadero? Its a day use area within a grove of trees, some bbq areas and trash cans. Its very clean. A caretaker asks for $3.00 in the early morning. I've never seen any other vehicles or people there. Any comments?

Personally...I like to leave very very early and high tail it to GN. In the old days I would stop somewhere in between but no more.

If you need a secure campground closer to Ensenada, consider the El Palomar at Santo Tomas. There is a guard at the entrance and it is a big, tree filled camping area. Santo Tomas is about 25 miles south of Ensenada. The entrance is across the road from the Pemex and restaurant.

The next secure camping place (I have been to recently) is Gypsy's RV park at Cielito Lindo, a few miles south of San Quintin/ Lazaro Card##as.

the last couple of times we stayed at El Palomar sans guard

we usually go in March and stop there on the way down

you can get a good meal at El Palomar

and gas. too

BE SURE TO BRING EAR PLUGS--LOTS OF ROAD NOISE---NOTHING LIKE THE SOUND OF JAKE BRAKES IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT---AND THE NIGHT CROWING ROOSTERS AT EL PALOMAR.
