BajaNomad

WOW, a milestone.

vgabndo - 9-25-2006 at 06:14 PM

I just couldn't resist. With this post I should have become a Senior Nomad. That ranks right up there with becoming a senior citizen, or winning 51 games of Free Cell in a row.:lol: I'm sorry I don't have anything more significant to say, but thanks for being my Baja cyber friends.

Baja Bernie - 9-25-2006 at 08:33 PM

Hey! My count goes on but I happily remain a 'normal' Nomad.

No David,

Your number of posts is obscene !!

What's it take to get a personalized label ??
Maybe ""Yearning" Nomad"" for me; can't head south until the first of the year ! :(

David K - 9-25-2006 at 08:42 PM

Nah, but I will give Doug one of my 'got baja?' hats for letting me post so much!:lol::lol:

OK Perry

Sharksbaja - 9-25-2006 at 09:01 PM

Hey Perry

Baja Bernie - 9-25-2006 at 09:06 PM

My count keeps going but I am most happy to remain the Normal Nomad.
Congradulations--Keep going and you can catch Sharks and David yet--sure.

FARASHA - 9-25-2006 at 10:21 PM

Congrats vgabndo !C u there - when I'll get my status as a Senior.

[Edited on 26-9-2006 by FARASHA]

Skeet/Loreto - 9-26-2006 at 04:06 AM

Vag: Does reaching that Milestone now make you the "Major of San Nicholas" ??? Congraulations.

Diver: I am dissapointed that you became a Member of that "Liberal AARP", they have a good reputation for "Scamming Seniors". Look Deeply into their Background before you send your Money.

Anon The Preacher

kellychapman - 9-26-2006 at 08:40 AM

ULTRA nomad.....now that sounds like more my style.....if I can make it that long without being tarred and feathered before reaching such a status. I too worry about AARP.....and wonder exactly what goes on with all the money sent in....do not know as I refuse to look or become a member because I am in denial of my age.....and aarp is the noise I make when I drink too much vitamin T.....lol

vgabndo - 9-26-2006 at 08:41 AM

Actually I have never aspired to be anything but an occasional contributor. My "count" would still be much lower if I had not exposed myself to the slur-fest on the off-topic forum. It does seem that there are some who post simply to see the numbers on their odd-ometer roll over.

I AM proud to be a small part of this little fraternity, and look, this thread gave several people a chance to increase their post count!:P

Heck, Skeet !

MrBillM - 9-26-2006 at 08:45 AM

Even I am a member of AARP, although I've never spent any money with them other than the yearly membership fee. I doubt anymore that the Politicos in D.C. and elsewhere believe that AARP can deliver their membership on any given issue.

I confess that as a newbie I made silly and irrelevant posts just to become a junior nomad more quickly. But I found that status also to be less than fullflilling, so I went on posting humiliating drivel, thinking that quantity alone would make me a true nomad.
Well, it worked!! So now I can sit back and enjoy the various conversations here, and make my contibution only when I have a truly meaningful or hilariously funny thought.
I have even reduced my average number of posts per day from 1.5 to 1.2! Numbers, stars, statistics? They don't mean a thing to me :dudette:

Paula - 9-26-2006 at 09:08 AM

Oh my my my.... only 162 more posts and I get another star!!!!

Paula - 9-26-2006 at 09:09 AM

Must remember to maintain my creative integrity...

Paula - 9-26-2006 at 09:09 AM

YESSSSSS!

just 160 more posts to go....

David K - 9-26-2006 at 03:40 PM

You're funny Paula!

As for what Diver said: "No David,

Your number of posts is obscene !!"

I plead guilty... however keep in mind I am the oldest (or is that longest) active Nomad on this forum (after Doug, 'Baja Nomad' himself... aka The Creator) coupled with the fact I do love sharing my thoughts and information on Baja.

Anyway, this beats T.V. or boozing... most of the time!:lol::lol:

AARP

Phil S - 9-26-2006 at 07:58 PM

Skeet. My learned friend. I also wonder about AARP & their "hidden agenda"!!!! However. I look forward to the monthly issues for reading & their "insurance, etc" Do you have knowledge of a replacement for me if I were to give up my membership in AARP??????????????????

roundtuit - 9-26-2006 at 08:08 PM

Just signed up for VA today and was told in one month I could have a free ck up
Told them would be in Baja for 6 or7 months was told to call when I got back.
Hope I don"t have thee big one:biggrin::biggrin::biggrin::biggrin:

Diver - 9-26-2006 at 08:21 PM

No worries Skeet !

I didn't join, just got their info package and a free "old-guy" ID card.
I've just never really been a joiner.

QuePasaBaja - 9-26-2006 at 10:08 PM

Barry A. - 9-27-2006 at 09:15 AM

-------I am with you----I refuse to send in my money anymore to AARP and have been doing that for about 2 years-----drives their computer crazy as it sends me monthly membership bills now---what a waste of money.

Their "Agenda" is just to far left for me, and I do not want them representing me anymore.

bajalera - 9-27-2006 at 10:44 AM

There's a down side to the counting. When posts were deleted from the Off-Topic forum to make more space, a lot my posts disappeared and my status was set back considerably.

Being a sorehead, I no longer take the time to click on an advertiser's site befpre reading any posts, as I had almost always done previously.

Farasha,
It is really stressful thinking you might have just made a really lame post, so follow my path carefully...
hmmmmm... this one might wake me up in the middle of the night tonight... to click or not to click....

BTW, I forgot to say congratulations, Vagabundo, so I'm saying it now:yes::yes:

Diver - 9-27-2006 at 08:33 PM

Yes Paula, it might be good therapy for some people to draft some posts with no meaning and then delete them instead of posting !?

Deleting can be good for you :P

Paula

Baja Bernie - 9-27-2006 at 08:35 PM

Please explain 'click or not to click' Just trying to help you up and over one of your goals.

Paula - 9-27-2006 at 08:56 PM

Bernie, it is a tongue-in-cheek goal of mine. As much as I enjoy reading and posting on Nomads, I really don't feel like a better person (or Nomad) for having made many posts. I'm always a little insecure about any writing I do, and prefer the spoken word because once utterred it can only be revisited by memory.

To click or not to click... refers to click on "post reply" To be or not to be? I do like this, a bit of existentialism with Shakespearian reference.

Anyway, thanks for the bump up to higher status, for better or worse.

Funny thing Diver, but I wrote a story today that just happened to fall into this very catagory. It held meaning for me, but when I had someone else proof read it before posting, they didn't quite get it. They said that if they were one of the characters in the story, then it would have had meaning, but to read it as a bystander...well, there you go. I guess you had to be there. The story was good therapy, it took me back to a more carefree time, but at the same time, I need practice at pushing that darned delete button!

So, what's my number at now...ja ja ja.
P.<*)))><

To be or not to be.....responsible?

Ohhh, I like that word, existentialism.

To be responsible for and accept the consequences for our words or actions.

Hooo boy, we're in BIG TROUBLE! :dudette::coolup::cool::coolup::cool::coolup::cool:

Thank god it's with Sharkspearian reference I write.

FARASHA - 9-28-2006 at 06:11 AM

oh yeah---TO CLICK OR NOT TO ....
I have delete almost as much as I have posted, I know that uncertainty.
So half of my posts I have spared you all to read on this board.
I hope it is appreciated !!!!

Next you'll be trying to tell me that Sharkspeare wrote "The Old Man and the Sea" to finance his fish and chips shoppe...

On second thought, Sharkspeare would have opened a steamed seafood restaurant with a great reputation that Don and I hope to make a detour to one of these days between Loreto and Montana.
