Swimpal and I will be spending a week or so in Bahia de Los Angeles at the end of this month. I've not been in this part of Baja for over 20 years and
it will be the first time Swimpal's been past Ensenada without being on a plane.
We'd like to take down some clothes and school supplies and need to know who we should speak with so it can be distributed fairly.
Maestra? Padre?
Quien Sabe?

I'm in Bahia at the moment and I asked the village librarian, Luz Maria, who is connected to the schools in town, what they needed. She said mostly
8.5X11 inch printer paper. A box of 10 reams can be purchased at most Office Depot, Office Max, etc. stores for about $20 a case. Luz Marie also
said that they always need pens and pencils, paper notebooks and just about any books, Spanish or English, that are looking for a good home.
I am trying to raise Carolina from the museum and expect to talk with her by tomorrow at the latest. If there is anything else on her list I'll pass
it on via this thread.
Thanks for caring and have a great trip.

Halboo - More Needs...
Mike Humfreville - 10-4-2006 at 10:18 PM
I talked with Antonio from the turtle sanctuary and he said the school also needs CD-R's (write once CD's). Another person in the village said they
can always use coloring books for the younger children in school. Cash is always a good contribution because of it's flexability in letting the
recepient use it as most needed. Regarding cash, I don't know who would be the best recipient and most trustworthy, but Luz Maria of the library or
Carolina from the museum would be good people to ask.
I should inform you that these are not needs caused by the recent huricanes, rather daily needs that cannot be met locally because of the high cost of
getting goods to the Bay.
If I can help further, let me know. If I find additional needs I'll follow-up here.
Once again, thanks for your efforts.
