Subject line now REQUIRED?

Hook - 10-5-2006 at 10:35 AM

I have attempted a couple posts/replies this morning and when I try one without a subject, I am directed to go back and correct this. Problem is, the back button is not returning me to the window that my composed post is contained. Eventually, the text is flushed out of wherever it is stored temporarily.

Anyone else experiencing this?

I know I can copy to the clipboard, but I cant recall having to put a subject in to complete a post before.

let's see if this works without s.l.

thebajarunner - 10-5-2006 at 10:43 AM

no problemo here in dreary Northern California

(except when I tried to zap this right back the 30 second time clock blew me off)

Hook - 10-5-2006 at 10:48 AM

Another attempt.

Well, it worked that time.

I swear I tried a couple simple replies this AM and it tried to force a subject line.

Definitely forced it on a new post just now, over on the Suggestions board.

BajaNomad - 10-5-2006 at 11:06 AM

Suject line has always been required for a new post... otherwise you'd see open threads with no subject listed.... and have you ever seen one that way?

;)

It's replies that do not require a subject.

Hey Bajarunner....

Just gotta yank your chain. Since when did ANYPLACE south of Sacramento become part of Northern California. Now I can understand folks wanting to be considered part of SUPERIOR California, but we who live in the real Northern California believe that Central California ends at about Colusa County. And it's OK for you guys to gang up with us to dis lowly Southern California. ;-) ;-) ;-)

No smiles

Shastaman,
Check my previous posts... I never, ever, never say Northern California, not sure what prompted me to do so today,
Yep, we are Central California, happy to be here.
And, planning to climb Half Dome tomorrow night (full moon) if it clears up, if the snow is off the trail, if the Dome is not too slick, etc. etc.
Climbing in Yosemite under a full moon is like strolling through a great European cathedral, simply awesome.
And yep, climbed to the top of St. Paul's in London last week- all 520 steps. Practicing for the Dome, I guess.

Us "po folks" down south are just a little closer to heaven!!

Martyman - 10-5-2006 at 12:52 PM

I used to go to a halloween party on the top of half dome. It was during the full moon closest to halloween. I met this incredible girl there, Julie. Will she be there?

surfer jim - 10-5-2006 at 01:37 PM

Sorry 'bout that. I added a static logo on the bottom right corner of the screen, but apparently that script conflicted with the one for the smilies.

I've removed that static logo script to eliminate the conflict, and the smilies should be working fine now.

My apologies.

Sorry, Julie never showed.
Actually, all the really cute chicks are down at the bottom of the trail, just the buffed out ones make it to the top.
Yep, I made it, and I ain't buff no more.
Rained on us, then it snowed, but the full moon finally showed and it was glorious indeed.
This has to be my last time up the Dome, I am way too old for this stuff!!!!!

Doug... Maybe I just don't understand, but your post has no subject line????
Also at any little glitch, my writings get flushed.
What can you suggest to avoid this.
At times I have to open a second instance of Nomads just to reference something to avoid getting flushed by using the back button. Gracias for any help.

Subject, not suject. Sorry for missing the "b" - and yes, my response had no subject, but to start the thread it required a subject line.

Re: Flushed writings.

Without getting into technical details of what's happening with this, I'll simply share with you what I do....

Before I call another page, or move back/forwards, etc... and I'm using a Windows PC here... I make sure the cursor is in the window where I'm typing.. I then "Select All" using the keyboard combination of "Ctrl + a" - then copy what I've written "Ctrl + c"... and then when I get where I want to go... I make sure the cursor is in the box I want the text in, and I then "Paste" this information into that area with "Ctrl + v"...

If you look at the "Edit" pull-down menu towards the top of your computer screen (again, on a Windows system), you'll generally see the words "File Edit..." etc. Click on "Edit" and you'll see these features (Select All, Cut, Copy, Paste, etc).

It copies that information to what Windows refers to as the "Clipboard" where it can be used elsewhere.

As an alternative, you can use a text editor, such as "Notepad" software to compose what you're wishing to post and then cut (or copy), then paste it into the BajaNomad content box.

Hope this helps,

" but to start the thread it required a subject line"

Thanks Doug, now I understand. It explain why Hook had to start the thread with subject line, but later did not need it.

I understand copy & paste. If that is the only way, may I suggest using an Email client that auto saves a draft. It really helps when your lap top battery goes flat.:light:
