Hussong's in Sacramento...

During the Alta California State Fair this summer, there was a Hussong's 'Store front' cantina that served great Margies, Ice cold Cerveza, yummy Mexican comida, along with lots of live Mexican band music!

I suppose this store front moves around to many county fair like get-togethers...the price of the Margies was a bit 'over-the-top', like $12 a pop for some decent Tequila! But the music and tacos were great to make it bearable - and at least you got to sit in the shade of the 'Cantina' and rest your tired feet!

The original cantina Hussong's got ripped off by non other than the great folks at Papas & Beer, who realized the owners of Hussongs had not filed to get the trademark for their great name. So what did they do? they registered the name and now use it in stores, and apparently fairs in the US to the total frustation and anger of the real owners who spent more than 100 years building that name.

I don't know if this is directly related to the current Hussongs business, but it appears that there is a new development by West Meridian Development Group. "Holding a special media-only event Friday, Oct. 13 (12 noon to 8 p.m.) to tour the future site of "Porto Hussong" - the first luxury resort, condo development and super yacht marina in Ensenada (www.portohussong.com), Baja California, Mexico."
With a "super yacht marina" as well! I wonder where they think all these yachts will come from. And if you have yacht, why do you need a room at a luxury resort?
