Natalie Ann...Beautiful, Beautiful, Beautiful, I want to add this to my stops. What turn off do you take off hwy. 1? Chapala?
Can the road be used by a 32' Motorhome?

Ken Bondy - 10-9-2006 at 04:10 PM

Stunning aerial shot Natalie Ann!! Late afternoon? Is the shrimper the same one that's in the first image?

Natalie Ann - 10-9-2006 at 05:52 PM

Sharksy, CincodeMayo, Von and Al G.... thank you so very much for your compliments. Glad you've enjoyed the photos. I can't wait to be there again.... for me Bahia Gonzaga is simply heaven on earth!

Sharksy... Yes, October in Sur is awesome for sure. It'll be wonderful to be there again. Who knows but we might run into each other down Mulege way.

Al G... I've never driven there, have only flown in... so don't know from roads. This will be my first time I'm driving in with friends, but we're taking the scenic route (San Felipe-Puertecitos-Gonzaga). I'm sure there are many Nomads who will gladly provide you directions. Be sure you do go there. You'll want to return over and over again.

Ken... Right - that photo was shot late afternoon on Valentine's Day 2004. And yep, the shrimp trawler is the same one, although I understand it has a twin which anchors off Santa Rosalia. I know I am not supposed to enjoy shrimp taken this way - the trawler rapes the ocean floor. But ya know, when staying at Alfonsina's one just has to give in and eat those fresh shrimps for breakfast and again for dinner. I stayed an extra few days just for the food.:yes:;D:biggrin:

Here's what that sunset looked like about 10 minutes before the first shot:

Oh boy! Those photos took me back! I had forgotten about how beautiful Gonzaga was and it reminded me of being down there with someone special... ! Thank you!

You have marvelous composition in that first photo Natalie Ann. The center of the photo is the shrimper's uplifting bow, which lines up perfectly with the down-sloping land form in the background, both of which are accentuated by the texture of the clouds and the line of the shore. Then the little panga in the lower left quadrant provides contrast with the dominant element of the big shrimp boat (or whatever it is), and the hull (or maybe a box) in the lower center nicely breaks up the diagonal of the other two boats. An “A” for your efforts!

I totally agree with you, even so I do not have any Ideal what your are talking about....Do you have a photo class in Baja?? I will join, but my prerequisites may be on the short side.

BajaBruno - 10-12-2006 at 07:34 PM

I'm sorry, Albert, if I seem like an expert--I am not. In fact, I am a lousy photographer despite many years of trying to be better. I read the books and study the great and good ones, and when I try, I create OK photos.

But, Natalie Ann knew she had something good there--maybe she didn't exactly know why it was so good, but she could see it was good and that is why she shared it. Just like the rest of you, I'm glad she did.

Al G - 10-12-2006 at 07:38 PM

Bravo Bruno!!! At least you see why...I only know I like it.

Oh, man! Gonzaga Bay.

Great shot.

Very big and fast changing tides in that place. Have to ford that reo to get there. It was my job to guage the depth. Bad!

My twin brother and I sunk or Vovlo wagon in that reo and had to be towed out by the biggest, baddest yellow dodge 4x4 I have ever seen. He filled our engine with wd40 and sent us on our way. Great people there. They called us the Volvo brothers.
