Why is it closed:?:

Yesterday (Tuesday) the hwy both north and south of Loreto closed. Heavy rain, some flooding. The seating area in front of the stage downtown, where the Foundation Festival is happening, was flooded with a few inches of standing water so last night's performances were canceled.

I expect things will be OK soon. The weather is nice today.

According to both the director of SCT and the watch officer of PFP Santa Rosalia, the highway south from Mulege is open all the way to Cuidad Constitution. Advise caution in the arroyos that were flooded yesterday.

I made the trip from Insurgentes to Santa Rosalia yesterday, passing thru Loreto at about 1:30 PM. Not pleasant but passable with great care.

Should be better today.

highway 1, that they have had a lot of rain, even that far north. they are
presently stopped, and just watching caravans of 18 wheelers go by, and
flooded arroyos. Its only going to get worse the further south they
get..... May get another report tonight?. - Russ
