differ slightly in shape; a little flatter and wider with a a little softer texture, distinguished by two pre-baking cuts down the top giving the

El Trailero is in El Sauzal, just as you enter town on the East side of the highway. It is on a corner. There is a killer fruiteria right next door.
We like their tortas too, but Recreo in Maneadero is still our favorite!

QUESTION FOR PAULINA - REGARDING TORTAS IN BOLA...
When we were in BOLA on the first BAJA EXPRESS cycle ride in 2002 we ate at the little Taqueria pictured here. They had GREAT Tortas! I had a Carne
Asada one the first day and then everyone else wanted one the next day. Everyone thought they were great!!
Is the Taqueria still located there and is their food still good??

Bigboy, You're right, Recreo is just after the road narrows to two lanes from four. It is on the west side of the road, you probably know Pablanos, it
is before Pablanos and across the street. Their tacos are less than $1., huge and have Danny's beat. Very much worth the drive into town. There are
plenty of Campo La Jolla residents that are regulars there!
El Gato, I tried that giant once and it was mighty tasty!

That stand is "China's". It's still there. I've never had a torta from her. We sometimes do Birria on Sundays.

Taqueria El Trailero is exquisite.
Northbound in El Sauzal, get on the frontage road when it begins and it's about three blocks north.
The tortas are in another class, filled with "the works," including frijoles de olla and fresh Camalu tomatoes.
For 20 pesos, you're pretty much ruined for the day.
Be sure to cook your own scallions...just grab one from the pile and toss it on the brazier.
This place is clean as a whistle, and has parking and sparkling bathrooms in the back.
About as good as tacos get.

Oh man...just hit it again yesterday on the way home.
Some of the things that really set El Trailero apart include:
-clean bathrooms and parking in the back
-a tacos al pastor station
-an adobada station
-a carne asada station
-a fish taco station
-a cocteles de marisco station
You just move from spot to spot at the counter and order that spot's specialty.
