One of the last all-male refuges.
There are few places that are relaxing as a good old-fashioned barber shop where a fellow can stretch out with your feet up while getting a haircut,
shave, and pleasant conversation.

Seeing this picture gives me confidence, that when I finally get to be in Baja long enough to need a haircut, that I can get a good one. (I wear a
flat-top)

What I'm missing in that photo is a leather strop hanging from the chair. I remember a barber in Santa Rosalia who would glide a stropped straight
razor over my face and I swear he could have taken all the lather off of an inflated balloon without popping it. What a master. A shave from a
straight razor is like going back to the womb. (Is that over-playing it a bit? Hahaha!)

BajaBruno..my photo IS from a small barbershop in Sta. Rosalia on a sidestreet. There is also another on the main street where the barber still uses
the strop to fine-hone his straight-razor.
In this particular shop, the barber is quite old now and his hand shakes too much for a safe straight-edge razor shave, so I sent a young boy out to
buy him a new pack of safety blades..the disposable kind.
The result was a good visit, a very nice haircut, a no-fear shave, and another Baja amigo met. A real Baja event...reminds me of other times and
places.

I'm so sad to tell you that this barbershop is no longer existing in Santa Rosalía, the place is being remodeled now. The barber man you're talking
about used to cut my hair since I was four years old... long time passed by...

mulegeloco..thank you for the current information on this barbershop. Que lastima, I am sad to hear the gentleman has passed. He was muy personable.
I, too, can remember my barber from my childhood...they were adept at putting us little kids at ease, weren't they? Again, muchas gracias por la
informaccion.

I'm sad for all of us, Summanus & MulegeLoco. I have good memories of those fellows. I'm sure they lived well, and who can ask for more than
that?
I still lust for a barber with a sharp straight razor . . .
